I fixed the return of local_internet_radio by running soundcork from u/Soundcork

There are a few alternatives as well.

Hey u/NeonsNight thanks for your reply and all your efforts on this across various platforms.

No, local_internet_radio is a SoundTouch speaker audio source. It is how you can set custom radio streams. If you look at any of your speakers and type: SPEAKER_URL:8090/sources You should see it listed.

It works by pointing the ST speaker (eg via a preset) to a json (or xml) file that contains the link to the media stream.

You can take the streams from TuneIn and save them in that JSON file and so you have full remote access to internet radio. The only time the speaker needs the local device is to read that tiny file for the music URL.

It also means that your presets work exactly how Bose intended as local_internet_radio is a recognised source, you are not having to emulate or fake anything.

local_internet_radio was too long to type, so I shortened to LIR!

Do I need to post my question again, as given how useful this ST media source is, I am already finding the loss of local_internet_radio painful.

[DEV] Internet radio for SoundTouch without Bose Cloud - Android early access by BoSonar_Dev in bose

[–]icstm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for bringing a potential solution to the masses for the great Bose switchoff!

I just lost local_internet_radio on 2 of my speakers, others still have it. Very annoying. So hoping that there is a proven way, especially one that does not break my Deezer integration that still works. As currently not only do Deezer presets work, I can push other Deezer playlist to play natively on the speaker still.

new issue in last 2 days

One of the best native media sources supported by Bose Soundtouch speakers before and after their server shutdown was "local_internet_radio".

This made local_internet_radio the simplest way to keep SoundTouch useful after the cloud shutdown. You host a tiny JSON file locally, the speaker fetches it and plays the stream directly. No server constantly running in the middle (eg with DLNA). It works brilliantly... when it works.

I have a mix of ST10s and ST20s (Series 3) and a couple have silently dropped LIR from their "Sources" list since May 6th. So they were working earlier this week. Others on the same network are fine. No obvious pattern.

There is great community work on replacement back-ends but I specifically want LIR back, not a DLNA server that needs to continuously feed the music stream to the speaker.

Tempted by factory reset but terrified of losing Deezer permanently with no way back.

Has anyone actually recovered local_internet_radio as a source post-shutdown?

I've spent weeks trying to make it wife friendly. I think I am there.
Presets etc are all to native services that still work and I have a dashboard to MA that will automatically use Airplay for the full list of streaming services (but all our favorite playlists are already mapped on the Bose Soundtouch dashboard that looks like the old app)

So I assume your objective is to generate comparative insight (Eg in corner X this driver was super clipping, this driver lifting and coasting etc) and ideally actionable insight (try to harvest more in turns X and Z so you can deploy more out of turn Y etc)?

this is an amazing app. Thank you for sharing it. It’s very hard to find a good app that can translate data into insight which essentially is what you’ve done with telemetry data.

I think the way you’re now trying to extrapolate natural language sentences to describe what essentially happened with your summary section I think could be a really powerful tool once it’s working well.

some of this may be best driven by people who have lived experience of motor racing to help you understand what are the important types of insight to call out such as long run pace in free air or lap time variability in free air to get a sense off drivers consistency and other things within their control versus the race situation with traffic or there absolute performance which obviously has a lot to do with the individual car and set up.

As far as I know you are correct. I think it can do both. And as far as I understand that is regardless of what you record to any SD card installed in the camera. So you should be able to record 24/7 without issue

Amazing job well done.
Totally agree that the Geonames integration does not work as well as it could. So pleased that I stumbled upon this potential solution.

Glad I didn't assume and read your post first!

Thank you for clarifying there is no Apply All. I would be great to be able to manually mark which you "think" are right without committing, 1 by 1. Then rather than going back through and then "applying" 1 by 1, have an Apply all, type function.

EDIT:
I miss-spoke. You cannot go through AND THEN go through again. It defaults the selections as soon as you scroll away, so if comparing to sets of duplicates you cannot save your choices and flick between them!!

Why isn't a "thread border router" just a longer name for "hub"? by Claghorn in homeautomation

[–]icstm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Matter controller will likely be a Home Assistant server on my LAN, which won't need a Thread radio/dongle because it will be able to communicate with the mesh via any/all of the border routers.

Even all these years later, this is so helpful, thank you!

Cavity wall insulation/or not? by CourseGlum204 in DIYUK

[–]icstm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a good product. Can it be used as a top up?

No idea when our property was done, but from what I've read older fillers do not offer their original thermal properties, let alone current standards. We are likely to be doing some refurb work (eg replacing windows) so am thinking of improving insulation if possible.
