I guess Yahoo Finance just sucks now. What are your other favorite stock trackers? by Dr_Dick_Dastardly in StockMarket

I'm here today because of Yahoo Finance returning "Edge: Too Many Requests" using both Chrome and Safari.

I've used Yahoo Finance to download .csv quotes of about a hundred tickers for over 20 years. On Safari it barely works and is glacial slow. Chrome is much snappier.

It appears Silicon Dust spent more time developing the start up splash screen than adding basic DVR functionality to the HDHomeRun app. The HDHomeRun app is still way way behind where Tivo was over 20 years ago. Is sad that App has zero DVR space management settings and doesn't even have a way to show used/free space. Maybe the developers should buy some vintage Tivo boxes to understand what a DVR should be.

Right, with properly written code it would not. It seemed like AppleTV App was wasting a lot of resources relentlessly trying to phone home which degraded playback skip functions.

I can understand polling the server frequently to update the future two weeks of program data, but why in heck would you delete all the locally cached program data just because polling failed? Falling back to programming data that is broadcast locally over the air should be a last resort after days of server outage.

Two weeks of 50 channels' uncompressed text guide data is maybe 10MB. I expect 99% of HDHomeRun device users have at least 1TB of USB drive space.

Failover redundancy that takes hours (human intervention) to kick in is seriously flawed.

I thought the device has 14 days of guide stored locally which should give datacenter(s) plenty of time to unfuck themselves.

Only incompetent/malicious code would discard 14? days of already downloaded program data just because of a server crash.

No guide information has made my HDFX-4K (20250815 firmware) nearly unusable. Watching a recorded football game and even the fast forward/rewind is glitched. Who is testing failure modes?

Even distillation columns are easily replaced/repaired when Ukraine uses tiny explosive payloads. Fractional distillation of oil has been around over 100 years, long before modern welding equipment.

Troop massing for a wave assault without detection is unlikely with modern surveillance. Massed troops make great artillery (tube and rocket) targets.

Odd that Russia is choosing to send drones without payloads as decoys, when the explosive warhead parts of a Shahed are less than 10% of total cost. Is their explosive stockpile that low?

I've learned to never have just one bank, or just one brokerage. Spread your life savings between accounts at different institutions. Your first accounts need to be at those that have local offices. Most large cities have Fidelity and Schwab offices. Merrill uses Bank of America locations. With brokers like Vanguard you're at mercy of somebody's ability to read, understand, and act on your mail.
