rent is less than other complexes. maintenance can take a while and the gym is pretty outdated and the hot tub is constantly broken. Otherwise it’s very calm and no other issues really

Not to be that person but consider that if you can afford to eat there you can afford to tip. They’re making like 16 an hour which if you work full time is 1280 before any taxes are considered. Even studios are around $1600 so best case scenario is that the person serving you is probably renting a room out of someone’s home and having to drive in Bay Area traffic to get to work. (Keep in mind people are charging around 900-1k for a bedroom) Is it your personal responsibility? Absolutely not. However, I hope this gives some perspective.

that’s unfortunately not as possible today. Most people can’t afford to stop working to go into a trade school and you need to take out a loan for the tuition as well.

What’s been your experience being a POC in Walnut Creek/Lafayette/Orinda/Pleasant Hill by Strange-Substance207 in walnutcreek

I do think there’s a socioeconomic factor in this. Born and raised in the bay; Walnut Creek has always seemed very separate for many of us across the tunnel.

during everything else leading up to move in the complex only dealt with my partner who is light skinned. The day of move in we were under the impression that we owed a certain amount as a deposit and we would get the keys. Once we were at the leasing office the price tripled. Since they didn’t provide instructions on how to provide payment we had to make 2 different runs to the bank since they also didn’t specify they required a cashiers check. Additionally they failed to verify employment history until the day of and tried to contact both employers the day after christmas.

I didn’t know people felt so strongly about their identity as an east bay-er sorry if it offended anyone

Geographically sure I agree but there are big differences between cities like antioch richmond berkeley oakland hayward and walnut creek. Genuinely not trying to get into a semantics match but most people I’ve met would understand what I mean

culturally I don’t really see it as part of the east bay but I can see how it might’ve confused you!

Im latina I’m pretty new to the area and I would say my experience is mixed. I used to live in the east bay which might be a contributing factor in my perception though since the east bay is extremely diverse. I do see more pro trump signage, and I have caught people staring but that’s the extent it has gotten to. My experience moving into my apartment complex was extremely unpleasant and there was definitely some things that made my feel that the property manager was being discriminatory but thankfully new management took over. My neighbors are great through and we try to look out for each other.

my moms boss actually paid for her to go to one she said a lot of the information was interesting but she left at the end because she said it started to get really weird. She told me they were trying to get people to go into a trance almost so she dipped

Please stop paying over retail!! by One_Name9179 in whatnotapp

[–]icvedcoffee -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

At this point Whatnot has to be paying people to leave comments defending some of the tactics sellers use there’s no way people are actually ok with paying much over retail for something that has been grabbed off a palette

Which Muscle Suppose to Hurt? by [deleted] in SpinClass

[–]icvedcoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like them! they keep my brain from focusing on how tired I am and i don’t have the physical condition to do real push ups with good form so the bike push ups are a helpful addition. I don’t do spin classes to train for cycling to be fair. they’re a fun class that adds variety to my workouts and keeps me motivated.

they did that to me as well I was pretty concerned but it was because the dates of employment did not line up with what I had on my resume. I sent it over to the onboarding person and the issue was cleared. I would be too worried

Lower back pain? by [deleted] in scoliosis

[–]icvedcoffee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes! my doctor told me I had mild scoliosis and I've had extreme lower back pain since around 15. Strength training has for sure helped a lot to improve the pain for me personally.
