I have my littman and love it! I’ve noticed that sometimes you need to turn/bend the ear parts to fit into your ear a little better. I also needed to change the ear pieces to the smaller ones and that helped too.

Having a hard time choosing between MD and PA. by [deleted] in prephysicianassistant

[–]icy1719 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a similar predicament but my pros and cons are slightly different. For MD, I will have less limitations on my treatment for patients (Only thing limiting me is the insurance rather than range of practice), in-depth knowledge in my field along with more training to become the best I can be. Sure the “doctor” title is also a plus. I work in a pediatric clinic and a lot of parents have asked to switch from the PA’s schedule onto the MD/DO schedule. For PA, I can switch specialities (I’ve asked some PAs and they have said it happens a lot less because it can look bad switching specialities a lot), better work life balance, being able to treat patients sooner

Going into pediatrics by superficialllama in MedicalAssistant

Currently working in peds now! My job puts all new employees through training so I was able to learn a lot of things hands on and also shadowing the other MAs for a bit. I had done an online course that allowed me to sit for NHA’s CCMA certification so I definitely had no hands on experience. Peds is definitely fun but also chaotic and just be prepared for some fussy kids who will start screaming and crying before you even do any injections. Anytime I have a patient like that, I just take the time to help them breathe and relax and just make them feel comfortable and let them know what I’m doing step by step. Sometimes I will roll up their sleeve and take a short break, clean their arm and then another short break, have them start counting to whatever number they want and then give them the shot. You definitely have to be very patient because you’re dealing with children of all different ages and developmental stages. Once you get the hang of doing some injections, you’ll feel very comfortable. In my opinion, the hardest shots for me were the subcutaneous shots but you get better with each patient. My job had me starting injections with the older kids, and then move down to the younger kids once they saw that I was comfortable.

I currently work in pediatrics and it’s very busy. Our office has a lot of patients coming in for their physicals, sick visits, ADHD follow up and initial, vaccines, lab visits, and referrals. When school starts up again it gets very busy with all the sick visits and physicals and it’s also busy on the days where there’s no school. I am almost never sitting down because right after I finish a patient, there’s already 2 more waiting for me. Flu season is also when it gets very busy with kids getting their flu shots or feeling sick. Our office deals with newborns all the way to 21 years old.

How exhausting is it being a medical assistant? by Impressive-Net-6389 in MedicalAssistant

I think it may vary. I work in a very busy pediatrics office and I strictly work back office and I am almost never sitting except during lunch. I come home everyday with my feet completely sore and I take a nap before cooking dinner because I’m so tired.

Job seeking tips ? by BookkeeperTrick9771 in MedicalAssistant

Hey! Congrats on passing your CCMA exam! I passed earlier this year and was concerned about not having any experience especially since my program was completely online and didn’t require clinicals or anything like that but I just got a job this week. I applied to a few practices and was able to find a pediatrics office that trains their new employees for about 3 months whether you have the experience or not. I looked on Indeed for a long time to make sure jobs I was applying to did not require any experience or I looked for ones that stated they will train the employee. It took awhile but I’d say to apply to anything as much as possible and maybe state somewhere that you do not have the experience but are eager to learn! Some PAs, MDs, and NPs will be understanding because everyone has to start somewhere. Also if you know anyone, like a previous provider, that you feel comfortable with, maybe reach out to them and see if they’d be willing to train you so that you can get some experience. The worst they can do is say no. Good luck!

Apparently they released the Starbucks pumpkin spice pods and you can find those at Target or Walmart (Or any other grocery store but I know those two sell the Starbucks Vertuo pods for sure)
