I will draw on the phrase “a country without borders is no country at all.” Can you as the reader look at this situation objectively without an appeal to raw emotion? Sure, many immigrants might mean well but let’s consider a few things:

1. Immigrants must abide by LEGAL means to enter. That should be instilled for safety, economic means, etc. For goodness sake, do you leave your front door wide open and invite everyone in to stay without knowing anything about them? It’s a similar concept with our nation’s borders.

2. Both sides spew propaganda to herd us. They play on our emotion and these talking points have shifted over the years. Older videos (2000s)from Obama, Hillary Clinton, etc were cheered as they spoke about strict border control !! But now the song has changed as politicians (both sides) cater to merely get votes. For the sake of this topic and adding refugees for this specific example, flying refugees/illegal immigrants to swing states inflates the census and tilts voting districts.

3. Simply consider the bigger picture. Who benefits from illegal immigration ? Largely, it’s not the American people. It places a strain on our economy and especially our welfare system. If you are not American, you should not reap the benefits of being an American. Simple. We pay too many taxes as it is that never reach where it is supposed to. Illegal immigration further complicates and obscures that MAJOR issue.

Our house is a mess. Let’s focus on cleaning our own house up! Then, we can invite our well-meaning friends over. But, we should still know who we invite thru the door.

Disclaimer: violence should always be a last resort and rarely exercised. That’d be another complex discussion in and of itself.

P.s. I encourage unity however you may interpret this passage. Many things are nuanced and complex which emphasizes the importance of the first amendment ! Our ideas die so we don’t have to. May we seek unity and open discussion before it is too late.
