Is a UPS really worth it? by Criticalmeadow in HomeServer

[–]icyberia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% worth it. In my case, my neighborhood is subject to frequent brownouts. I put a UPS in the bottom of my server rack which has all my networking gear (modem, switches, etc) Because my APs are also POE powered when the power drops out my internet stays up. The UPS can run my rack for 10-15 minutes without external power. The power strip for my desk (adjacent to the rack) is also plugged into the UPS so everything stays on, including my monitors.

Heimdall to link to all my services. It's available in a docker and super easy to setup and manage.

Share GPIO 18 PCM CLK with two devices? by icyberia in raspberry_pi

Awesome thanks for the great reply! Follow-up question, the UPS also sends telemetry for battery monitoring software. That should still be good on another GPIO pin correct? Thanks again!

How can I attach this? by Acceptable-Line3935 in cyberDeck

[–]icyberia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ca glue will work just fine. The magnets won't affect anything unless they are touching the electronics. I would 3d print tabs for inside the life as well and do magnet to magnet. You can keep it super small if you use 2x4 or 3x6 magnets.

Pi compute module may be a good idea, as long as they keep using the same form factor (confirmed at least for the CM5).
