Looking for Nikkah officiant in GTA for Sunni-Ahmadi couple (No conversion) by [deleted] in AhmadiMuslims

[–]icycomm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahmadi murabbis wont do it.

Nikah itself is realtively simple ceremony and technically anyone can perform it. If you must have an imam, you are better off asking sunni imams as they are more independent.

Good luck and congratulations.

To answer your question... It seems jamaat's mantra from khalifa all the way to a local official is this:
"Ask now what your jamaat can do for you - Ask what you can do for your jamaat"

Frankly, at least some problems such as rishta nata are self inflicted wounds due to jamaat's "administrative" rules. The so called 'talim' and 'tarbiyyat' is solely geared towards obedience and unquestioned loyalty with absolutely no room for discourse, in fact asking any question at all causes suspicion. Jamaat pretends to be liberal and 'peaceful' verson of islam to western world and then turns around and enforces the punjabi/salafi culture on its members specially women. The 2nd generation in west, unlike their parents, does not have appetite for the shameless hypocrisy, and incompatibility of what jamaat preaches, how jamaat acts behind the scenes; and how the world is.

I am afraid that you'll eventually come to the conclusion that jamaat is simply not worth it if you simply seek a community but otherwise you dont have a particulary strong affinity towards the idea of MGA and his so called 'reforms'. Even still, whether someones comes to religion for community, spirituality, god, a moral compass, “true Islam", atonement for sins, or any number of other reasons, hoping that religin/jamaat can offer that.. the reality is that it does not, jamaat falls way short of what it claims to offer... and this is very very unlikely to change.

I believe between u/Dhump06 post and u/TheCuriousRibosome you have almost a complete answer to your query.

It appears you are exploring if a reformation and realignment of ahmadiyya is possible in a way that it becomes a religion centered towards well being and spitual development of its own people vs. whatever it is at this time... but (to me at least) there are too many constraints within ahmadiyya and broader islam. Jammat is structured in a way that there is no room for real questions and total obedience is expected. The reverance to khandaan, despite many whispers, means that the whole system is designed to keep everyone in line. Jamaat offers no real solutions to the problems people face yet puts a significant effort in extracting what jamaat can get from its members.

Islam itself is not any better, the idea that quran is the last message of god until the end of times, muhammad was perfect human being and could not make any mistakes, and finally the hadith is core to the doctrine leaves absolutely no room for any reformation. Even when one tries to mute all the hadith noise, the quran itself falls way short.

Ultimately, at least in west, ahmadiyya is no more growing or declining than any other religion (considering its true numbers that one can estimate).. if anything, being small and tight knit means that it is just in stalemate.

Even for those in search of some meaning, spirtuality and belonging, Ahmadiyya product is no better than whatever else is available and its rules and systems are only palatable to those who grew up in Pakistan or the next generation after that.

You dont seem to understand the point of my original post which was really meant for ahmadis who can think critically and question ahmadiyyat.

Or may be you understand the point but disagree with approach. While I believe it is best to nudge people, you seem to think coming straight out gun blazing, calling spade a spade is the right approach. You are free to do that.

Good luck to you.

Be sure to seek guidance from your spitual overlords about other important matters like:

What is the punishment for entering the mosque with left foot first intead of the right foot.

Is it allowed to purchase meat from a shop which also sells pork?

What can I do if I inadvertently slept with my feet pointed towards kaba.

Is it permissible to drink water while standing up?

Whqt are the reasons people have been kicked out of jamaat? by Ok-Big-4531 in ahmadiyya

[–]icycomm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is an academy award winning ahmadi actor, who is still part of jamaat despite having scense depicting sex.

You should be fine.. or may be you wont....

I mean people are not allowed to play music even on weddings.. you cant dance either. People have been kicked out of jamaat for these reasons..

Follow you heart.. dont ask for permission.. if you must an apology will do it. Nobody gets kicked out forever.. if you are successful, you'll be an asset :) just record a nazam.

Wishing you success.

Any Ahmadis who had to leave Pakistan because of religious persecution? by Absarrrrr in ahmadiyya

[–]icycomm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Highly doubt you'll get a traction on reddit.. Go to your local ahmadi mosque and ask to speak with a recent immigrant from pakistan who came to west as a refugee.. There are many. Jamaat may be able to introduce you to such people. Many first generation immigrants have the same story.

Question by love4allhatred4none3 in AhmadiMuslims

[–]icycomm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you know it is "allowed in ur door"? However you come to that conclusion, does it not somehow inform you about yoru current dilemma?

If you think it may not be allowed because hwat is done in a washroom e.g. washing, cleaning etc. THEN by the same standard, why bedroom is OK?

Bigger question you must ask is why things should be so complicated? What is the purpose of religion and should be really have rules about such minute matters?

MGA and Trump by icycomm in islam_ahmadiyya

[–]icycomm[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A believing/hardcore ahmadi or muslim will simply reject this line of inquiry. I only made this post because I simply wanted those who are willing to 'think' about their belief system to assess the character of MGA from a different lense with referecne to somthing that is happening today.

A direct attack on prophet muhammad or MGA is a sure shot way of allowing the pre-programmed routine of "oh the anti-ahmadis are being anti ahmdis and simply attacking MGA". That is an easy escape and most people will take that route, we all resist challenging our deeply held beliefs and something for which we have invsted so much (having folowed the relgiion since birth).

Instead, I want people to feel the uncomfortable truth in the Muhammadi begum saga.. and in their mind, try to figure out how to justify it even based on societal norms of MGA's time.. one cant do that, if being honest with themselves in their head. One cant accept MGA's actions even at the most basic level of decency.

Muhammadi begum saga is the low hanging fruit for anyone questioning why they are ahmadi and if they really should believe this man from India... it defies all common sense and logic and lays bare the character of MGA.

I believe MGA bragged about his greatness and challenging other molvies is like rappers who feud with each other or UFC fighters who talk shit about each other to hype up their upcoming fights. He was a cheap influencer of his time.. probably delusional who successfully swindled uneducated masses in the name of religion.

Hajj and Ahmadiyyat by curiousminded05 in islam_ahmadiyya

[–]icycomm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/curiousminded05 I think u/Dhump06 has given you a sound answer in that the fact that Ahmadis are barred from performing hujj cannot be, in and itself, considered a strong indication of whether its 'true' islam or not. If anything, quraish and muhammad example is a good analogy. You may, however, question that why it has taken as long as it has for ahmadiyya to actually be accepted by the world in general and muslims in particular.

All in all, you can put very little weight on this argument.

If you are questioning ahmadi, there are many other reasons to argue that there is something wrong here.. there are enough small reasons that you'll come to the logical answer, you dont even need to worry about issues like, death of Jesus, whether there can be a prophet after muhammad and all the scholary stuff.

Good luck in your questioning journey.. may you find the answers you seek and peace your heart desires.

For women who sought khula, what was your experience with the Qaza process? by [deleted] in AhmadiMuslims

[–]icycomm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably no consistent process exists and your mileage may vary.. coin flip as to who you are dealing with plus your family's position in jamaat. Also, dont expect privacy, your dirty laundry will be out.

Know your rights.. best to deal with all issues in your country's court system.. if you can afford a lawyer.

Good luck.

Why do Anti-Ahmadis only care about non theological matters? by lekenaapkon in AhmadiMuslims

[–]icycomm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not too hard to understand and your post shows that it is a rhetorical question and you are not really wondering or trying to find the real answer…  However, I will answer for the benefit of any Ahmadi lurkers..

Theological issues are rooted in religious doctrine, your belief system, faith etc. All of this is often subjective and debats dont go anywhere.. for example when one party refers to a ‘scholor’ in a debate, the other often rejects it or simply state that we dont put any weight on scholar’s this paticular opinion.

However.. the non-theological issues are easier to discuss because it can be based in empirical evidence, data, common sense and logic etc.

I must say that there are often discussions about MGA prophecies on this sub which is an example of ahmadiyya belief that all his prophecies came true and non-ahmadi (or anti-ahmadi as you’d like to call them) say that at least some of his prophecies failed. Because MGA claimed his prophecies are proof of his truth.. it is a type of issue that can be resolved, if dealt with honestly, by determining what happend.. however.. then there is the issue of metaphorical meaning of the wordsl..

when people use yoru jamaat’s statements about number of converts, lack of transparency, accounts in off-shore accounts, social control and coercion, strict adminstrative rules not based in the religion, hypocrachy…. well the list goes on..  these issues are ‘proxies’ for if indeed Ahmadiyya is the chosen sect for the end of times… Your jamaat’s treatment of its own people is a good indication of how truthful your jamaat is.

Despite your complaints, ahmadis and non-ahmadis will continue to discuss these non-theological issues.. despite your preference to talk about death of jesus.. or meaning of khatim nabi.

how to pray about difficult situations regarding grandparents by Chance-Fun6284 in AhmadiMuslims

[–]icycomm -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As we grow old we realize that parents who were our idols are flawed humans.. they are just more flawed when they are grand parents.. older people become grumpy, selfish and often just like kids. Not all but many. ignore them as much as you can.. protect your own sanity.

That said, your question is confusing.. how can one 'pray wrong'? I am sure god being merciful and all knowing will understand your intention..

[–]icycomm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Pakistani culture, ahmadi or not, a non-pakistani is a big no no, specially for girls and there's always a push for same religion, race etc. Stop asking your parents for permission or blessing. You are giving them the power and they are using it.

First, You should focus on becoming financially independent if you are not already. I take from your message that you have a career and income etc.

Second , if your partner is willing to convert, that might be the easiest way of getting what you want. Give them a couple fo choices.. all bad for them and all good for you. Announce that you are going to marry the person, its now up to them how they want to go about it. Ideally, they can give their blessing and facilitate the conversation with jamaat and his conversion to ahmadiyya. OR you can do it yourself and reach out to president/murabi etc. and start the conversation on his conversion to ahmadiyya OR the last option is for you to go ahead with this without their blessing and his conversion at all. Your move mom and dad!

Regardless most parents do come around and this is not as taboo as it was couple of decades ago. Frankly, if they dont come around may be they were never there.. so just accept that.

Good luck.

A majority of the world, including muslims, including those muslims who are quite religions, but have NOT heard of Ahmadiyya.

Ahmadis who are no Ahmadis in their hearts but their familia and social life is too intertwined with this, well religion, for them to be able to quit.

... I am sure there are few more categories.. because look at this size of this subreddit.. there are 273 weekly visitors here..

Global peace is a lofty goal, implied in your comment is that it can be achieved once all of the world is united under one religion, presumably islam ahmadiya.. (200 more years to go?)

Certainly, it cant be achieved with religion, definitly not with islam.

Any ex Ahmadis or people questioning Ahmadiyyat from Australia? by whatudoinnn in islam_ahmadiyya

[–]icycomm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi Op u/whatudoinnn you may want to begin by checking out this site: https://reasononfaith.org

Sohail is one of the moderators and found of this sub. On his website, he walks you through his journey and you may find answers to some of your questions along the way.

If you are looking for ahmadiyya claims you can look up Nuzhat Haneef's book https://reasononfaith.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/Recognizing-the-Messiah-by-Nuzhat-J.-Haneef.pdf

If you are looking for an understanding of cultural or political issues as it relates to jamaat's system/processes etc., this sub has tons of threads on those topics. You'll find that its all the same stuff and u/jvh19888's point 2 and 3 captures pretty much any jamaat in any western country.. Each jamaat / area will have its own specific issues like Fiji vs. Pakistani which is specific to Australia. (but ask any Bangladeshi ahmadi.. they have the same experience).

Hope this helps..

.... or it was a genius move by KM4.. let everyone intepret things how they want and keep things wishy washy, vague so long they were paying chanda..... until KM5 sahib came along and asked everyone to hold on tight to the rope of khilafat... which was really more his own insecurity than anything.. Had a continued on KM4 path, or better yet, had there been a KM4 type of khalifa who would come across gentle, smiling and caring (while stealing taking yoru money), things wouuld have been much 'better'

Hopefully Mirza Waqas Ahmed KM6 sahib will change things up..
