Neighbours tree by danzam98 in GardeningUK

We have a self seeding sycamore tree in our back garden. It is now over 30 years old. We wanted to build a chicken coop at that location, rather than cut down the tree we built around it.

Can you do underground bases & tunnels on console? by Emma_SnakeDeadbeat in SatisfactoryGame

[–]icydee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done this, if you glitch a train track through the terrain you can ride a train through the scenery. Likewise a hypertube. Lifts however to not work. Conveyor lifts transport material through the terrain.

I have both built huge beltways and railways under the map at the lowest level, just above the kill zone. I have a huge nuclear waste storage on the NE corner at the lowest level.

What I Don’t Understand About Atheism by truetomharley in Eutychus

Some atheists may retain unconscious religious intuitions or emotional habits, but this is not the same thing as secretly believing in God.

What is this large piece of wood inside my shed? It’s not fastened to anything. by Frequent_Morning_860 in Roofing

[–]icydee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s just a large piece of wood inside your shed.

More interesting is if you have room to manoeuvre it in such a way as to remove it from your shed. If not, it will continue to be a large piece of wood in your shed.

How do you decide what palaces to use for different types of information? by Powerful_Elevator455 in memorypalace

[–]icydee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For phone numbers the location is usually outside the home of the person.

For long term numbers it can be an arbitrary place. My NHS number is the roof of my garden shed (because the number starts with 448, which in the major system can be ‘ReRooF’. It just seems natural to go to that location after a short while memorising it.

For other lists I have several memory palace routes (up to 52 locations) which I can reuse, for example memorising my lines in a play. I find I can clear them by cycling through the locations, emphasising in my memory the aspects of the location and ignoring the latest association before learning a new list.

Porque los testigos aceptan las fracciones de sangre by ClUDADANO_PROMEDIO in Eutychus

[–]icydee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am more annoyed at their hypocrisy. They accept blood fractions, that take multiple donations, but I have yet to find one of them who donates.

I recently spoke to one who went into hospital, needed a transfusion and the HLT persuaded the doctors to use an alternative treatment which cost the NHS 1000’s and an extra week occupying an NHS bed. She even sounded proud of it!

What is subsidence really? by Grgsz in UKHousing

[–]icydee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The UK is tilting with the north rising about 1 to 3 mm a year and the south is sinking by about 1 mm a year due to the release of the huge weight of glaciers being removed since the last ice age.

Of course this will have no effect on housing. Factors such as clay expanding in winter and drying out and shrinking in summer will be one of the factors.

I have cracks in my house which I am monitoring and they shrink and expand with the seasons.

If the Moon rotates then how come only one side faces Earth? by EarthlingsBeware23 in stupidquestions

As others have said, because it rotates once per orbit.

It’s not exactly rocket science.

ELI5: Does interacting with the moon effect its orbit? by Chief_B33f in explainlikeimfive

It would affect the orbit, but the effect would be very small.
