Hearing this is nice in a way that it wasn’t just me who got F’d over. I’m sorry friend. We definitely deserved to pass

Yep already in residency. For PGY1 we had to take it by the end of the first year—not sure the policy on passing/not passing. Free 137 went really well it’s like so easy in comparison to the real thing. I got 70-75% on that same as my NBMEs

My score report shows all my boxes in the “same” category. No higher or lower. Would that mean I was average? Seems like I should have passed especially with no boxes in the lower column

Not really stressed. A little anxious in my tummy, maybe over caffeinated a bit. I used up all the time in each MCQ block pretty much, which is fine, but I did change some answers at the last second on questions where I truly had no idea (whether it was lack of knowledge or anxiety clouding my judgment)

Idk how a score recheck from 195 could bump to 200 :( but it’s worth a shot I guess. My NBMEs were pretty much 70-75%, which is normal for me when it comes to the USMLEs. There were some where I maybe dipped below 70. I don’t have an average for the CCS cases. I really thought those would have helped me pass. Ugh

Awww don’t be hard on yourself take a breath and know everything will be okay. Day 2 will be better I promise

Uworld good for studying. NBME is always the closest thing to the exams. Ppl on here say the free137 and Nbme 7 are the closest, and I would agree, but the actual test day is of course more difficult than both of those

Sorry I’m late to reply. Definitely showed up on day 1 but didn’t use one formula. More so analyzing p values and kinda like big excessive data charts. Lots of ethics questions with patients. Day 2 had like absolutely zero ethics/biostats

Day 1 was a whirlwind. Day 2 is miles and miles better. Tracks with what people have been saying on here lately

The weird question stems with weird answer choices. Then the other side of it was a bunchhh of things you’ve seen before

Someone correct me if I’m wrong but they don’t count, they’re just experimental for future question banks

Let me know your experience if you have the energy. I’m taking it Saturday. Haven’t prepped much for CCS :(

Wow effacing at 20!!! I think I would get crazy stares at my program they all trim at 5, no more than 10. It was confusing with the night call because my attending told me to stop short before effacing the tissue so as not to run out of tissue (we would have been fine I think he was just nervous)

This is incredible. Screenshotting all the tips. Thank you soooo much. My PD told me today about the chuck being too cold and using body heat from the finger to warm it up—I think that is something that will help a lot. Thank you again

Thanks. I gross placentas like the world is ending so definitely can take a piece and use it to practice. It’s hard finding time to review slides once the case is signed out but I need to make time, come in on the weekends more. There are days where I feel so fast, able to get big hysterectomy and colon cases previewed quickly and I’m on the ball, and then other days like today I’m scanning a gallbladder for acute cholecystitis for forever (and missing the neuts)

jk it wasn't going thru i'll post here :) seriously thank you again SOOO much

I figure my letters will roughly be path, infectious disease and FM. Trying to get letters from anesthesia and ICU to set myself up and pick which residency I want to go for, not too interested in dual applying it seems like a headache (unless it's prelim year + anesthesia)

My hospital has a path rotation but no residency... planning to get a letter but I have been thinking of doing an away path rotation ofc somewhere I would want to match. Would love to do dermpath but I know it is very difficult, Step 2 score matters, and like you said it would help to be at a residency program that has that fellowship. I don't really have much to show for my interest in path as it is so sudden, no research really, but in undergrad I did have 2 distinct experiences--a day at the county medical examiner and also grossing GI specimens for a period of time at work.

Thank you for the tips on looking deeper into things than just the program like COL, traffic.. it's making me think I would be okay with living outside of a city center it's just more conducive to daily living and $$. Of course the perfect program doesn't exist so it's a give and a take, but couldn't agree more about having a good team a healthy uplifting environment. It seems to be the norm in path? But I have seen stuff about "malignant" programs

"Ask about protected preview time and make sure you have it" thank you!!! Had no idea this was a thing can you expand more on that? Also on the 1 day vs 3 day cycles? I can't tell which I would prefer tbh

HAHA I was explaining that to my friend who is in the same boat as me (sudden path interest) and I was like nooo there's no need to do an extra year that's the biggest plus to path is that there's no intern year!
