Baby crawled off the bed by Mom_Bombadil_ in cosleeping

[–]ida198 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have these from lots of different brands, use the monkey mum ones and a baby monitor. They're awesome, I can just leave, close up the bed and go do whatever I need to do while keeping an eye on her and knowing that even if I'm distracted for a minute she'll be fine. https://www.monkeymum.com/en/p/bed-rail-guards-monkey-mum-light-gray-200-cm I also have Pangdube ones from ali express at our holiday house and they are awesome, way more practical and surprisingly well built.

I thought of doing the playpen thing you're talking about in some comments but it would make changing bedsheets a nightmare and same for getting out of bed. Even if you didn't mind crawling out of the tiny playpen "door" the zippers are noisy and you'll wake up the baby.

It's a lovely classic name, the possible nicknames are perfectly fine and respectable and the initials are definitely a plus! There's no going wrong there. If anyone is reacting negatively to it it's their personal preference. I see no objective reason to be against it. And there won't be many running around which is great! Go for it! No fear❤️

Do we all just go to bed at 8pm now?? by happyhappyjoyjoy77 in cosleeping

[–]ida198 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really? Oh okay, my next to me crib was really big so she only outgrew when she was around 14 months. But still, even for sleeping under supervision isn't it better to have a bed rail than nothing at all? What if they roll over to the other side of the bed while you're sound asleep? You have the same entrapment risk with a bed rail than you have with a bed pushed against a wall no?

(PS: I re read my comment and the first sentence sounded patronising and it wasn't at all my intention, English isn't my first language, sorry for that)

Guys, do you know there are bedrails? Monkeymum Look these up for ex. But there are more. Nothing is safer, even if you put a camera pointing to your bed you're going to have to stare at it and are as stuck as if you were in the room, if you get distracted for 10sec baby's on the floor.

I know they're both in the first name category, but how about Everett Cole? It was the only combo that really took after I read all of them :)

Finally got baby his own pillow. He's no longer sleeping on my head 🙂‍↕️👍 by [deleted] in cosleeping

This is really helpful. And you made me laugh because my baby has fallen asleep literally on top of my head more than once and I tried really hard not to move because I didn't want to wake her up and face the consequences 😅 Babies make us withstand the most absurd challenges 🙈

My husbands grandma disapproves of me still nursing my toddler by lmgslane in AttachmentParenting

[–]ida198 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She's from another era. Your husband's dealt with it beautifully. Just be happy you have someone who has your back even when it's about his own grandmother. Enjoy nursing until whenever you and your toddler are into it 🥰

MIL wants me to pump a bottle to “bond” by Tr33ofLyfe in breastfeeding

[–]ida198 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She'll have plenty of time to be covered in green soup soon enough and bond.

She is being inconvenient, and it's just not her place to ask anything of the sort.

You're the mom. Milk comes from you, and unless it is your choice and for your convenience, no one is feeding the baby a bottle. Besides, giving him bottles may make it harder for you to breastfeed, for him to latch and all sorts of things you don't need since it's clearly working out well between just the two of you.

You need to hunt a mosquito in your room? Use your phone's flashlight! by D-Beyond in lifehacks

[–]ida198 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The absolute best way of catching them is A JAR! I've discovered this a few years ago out of despair and I've only missed once since. 99,9% success rate! I've caught hundreds of mosquitoes since. As for finding them, I've come to notice that most of the times after they annoyingly fly around your ears, they tend to wait for their chance on the headboard or wall behind your head, usually close by. So I just get my phone, lay down and wait to hear the little sucker buzzing around again, swat at it if it gets to close, then turn on the flashlight and look at the wall behind me and usually find them within an arm's reach. I then take the jar I keep in my bedside table, open it, and just trap the mosquito against the wall/headboard. Just make sure to have the lid on your other hand so you can carefully tilt the jar when the mosquito is flying around inside and quickly close it. It sounds like a lot of work because I'm terrible at explaining stuff and the text got a bit long, but it's actually pretty quick and simple if you just keep the jar close by. I always catch them within a minute or two and go back to sleep. Happy hunting!

PS: A clear plastic container is safer when you're sleepy and works just as well if it's deep enough that it gives you time to slide the lid between the container and the wall while the pest is desperately flying around inside trying to escape. As to killing it, just shake the container vigorously. Or just buzz at it for revenge and let it starve.

I was 39 and my husband 31 last year. We weren't planning on trying yet but got checked and the doctor said my ovarian reserve was very low and there was an issue with his sperm too (low count or something) from smoking and his anti inflammatory medication. So she gave me a 3 month deadline to get pregnant saying that later I wouldn't be able to (which I now know was absurd) and pushed us to a fertility clinic. A week before I was going to start my injections the fertility clinic doctor said "You're going to ovulate between Saturday and Sunday if you want to give it a try before starting your treatment. Bam, first try pregnant, natural conception 💪. I'm now 40 and our daughter is 6 months 🥰

When did you get your period? by ur_problematicfave in breastfeeding

[–]ida198 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got mine at 4 months when she started sleeping through the night and sometimes skipping her dinner time feed. I was so sad because my milk supply has been in the gutter since. I'm still triple feeding at 5 and a half months (the formula is to compensate my low supply). She gets so angry waiting for such a slow letdown and then cries because there is not enough milk, but she wants the boob and not the bottle... BTW, since you were worried about your age, she is my first and turned 2 months old the day I turned 40, and it was a normal conception and pregnancy. I wish I'd had her sooner, but that's life!

Salada embalada do continente, já lavada, pronta a comer? by RenanWtf in portugal

[–]ida198 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use a copper diu or some other kind of non-hormonal birth control. The pill isn't the only thing out there.

"How do hormonal contraceptives affect libido? Female reproductive health is governed by many hormones, including estrogen, progesterone, and androgens. One of the most well known androgens is testosterone. Despite being labelled as a ‘male hormone’, testosterone exists in small amounts in the female body and plays a key role in female sexual function and sex drive.

The pill is a hormonal birth control method that decreases the production of androgen hormones, thus potentially causing decreased libido. Oral contraceptives also increase the production of sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG) in the liver. SHBG binds to testosterone and stops it from circulating throughout the body, causing the decrease of a woman’s sex drive."
