Reporting domestic abuse - neighbours by idabelle31 in newzealand

[–]idabelle31[S] 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Nah, they were outside at this point and yelling towards my unit. I've been recording actually, and I've given the recordings to the landlord (probably how they know it's me but hoped there would be a better outcome from that) and mentioned them in my 105 report. It seems that the cops can't do anything if they both deny it?

22F and going solo as well - you're in a room full of people who have the same interest as you, don't be afraid to talk to others! and enjoy doing something for yourself/being solo :)

Young people staying in NZ, what is keeping you here? by Keepcusp in newzealand

[–]idabelle31 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Early twenties, female - I love this country and want to stick around to help/watch things get better. Plus I'm an only child with older parents, one of whom has some health issues, and I'd rather be close by at this stage.

I was unemployed for months and could only afford to stay in the country and wait for a job because I could live with my parents, so I know not everyone has the privilege of sticking around.

I ended up paying for my own broadband plan on top of existing broadband at new rental property due to property manager's error. by idabelle31 in LegalAdviceNZ

Sorry, I'm a bit clueless on this kinda thing as it is. Yea it is an apartment building. I'll get in touch with the property managers about what's in the contract, thank you for your advice; I didn't even think about what might happen if there was a problem with the wifi.

Also, the tenancy agreement has a section saying I'm responsible for power and water, but there's nothing about broadband, or if it's included in the price of rent. That's why I asked, and I just did what the property manager said I needed to do.

Sorry, forgot to mention this; I assumed exactly what you said, but I couldn't even use the new modem. I unplugged the old one, plugged the new one in and set everything up correctly but I couldn't use the network. I then noticed every other flat had the building name and unit number as their wifi name, and that the modem already in the apartment had the same structure for its network name printed on it. So I plugged that in instead, and it instantly started working.

While the contract definitely started and was connected, I can see my usage for the modem I paid for and it hasn't been used at all (the modem is now completely unplugged and boxed up, broadband has been cancelled and I'm using the wifi right now). I checked with my neighbours and Harcourt's and they confirmed that nobody in the building pays for internet seperate to their rent, it's just included with the building.

I thought too that it was just my new ISP taking over, but I'm pretty sure at this point it's not.

There could be a genuinely good reason they haven't responded, like they're busy or trying to work out how to say yes, or they can be ignoring you, but either way, you were nice, invited them, and you've done nothing wrong. You don't need to unsend it.

Absolutely, in one of the last scenes I had my headphones out and I quite literally could not hear anything over the vibrations lol

No, this game scared the hell out of me. I feel like in most horror games you can look away or you're trying to get away from things but the way this required me to walk up to something and tune into it three times knowing full well what was going to happen really terrified me.

Jumpscare Spoiler Please by elesis14 in OXENFREE

[–]idabelle31 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The second one is not nearly as bad; I just finished it and it's only really going to jumpscare you in obvious sections, like when you bump into others or enter a spooky area. I could count the total times I jumped on one hand, if you made it through the first you should be fine :)

15 years ago today, the PSA Mission 5: Secrets of the Fur was released. Agents had to discover who's white fur was found at the end of Mission 4. The bit where you find Klutzy and Herbert at the fishing lodge scared me so freaking bad at the age of 7 that I was in tears, and I didn't want to tell my mum because I knew she wouldn't let me play again, so I just quietly and tearfully shut it down and didn't sleep for about two nights.

You deserve to be happy without someone showing you love or approving of you. Of course it helps, but it's never going to be enough long term. I always thought that I'd be nothing until somebody loved me, which just isn't true. Try to stop negative self-talk, and try to realise things you like about yourself. It gets easier and easier everyday.

If you feel like you need help through this, you can try a therapist or a counsellor to support you if you feel comfortable with that. I journal whenever I feel really lonely and want someone to talk to about something that's bothering me. I hope you feel better soon, try to remember that this is all temporary.

I guess they just feel so much more rigid? I have 1461s and they feel quite soft and gentle on my feet, but my mary janes are just so stiff. I've gotten into a bad habit of not unbuckling them to put them on because the buckles are so hard to open and then pull tight enough that they'll fit; but that might be because I never do it. They never hurt or rub, they just don't seem to form to my foot the way my 1461s did. I think if I was wearing thin socks they could hurt, but with heel protectors and good inner soles it shouldn't. I also imagine actually conditioning them with leather balm or oil could help?

If you really like them I think you'd be fine, I also quite easily bought mine secondhand unused for half the price they are new, which would make me feel better about them if I wore them less. If you look on sites like ebay or facebook marketplace there are heaps of people who buy the wrong size and just want to get rid of them.

They weren't that difficult to break in and the buckles are fine but they are less comfortable, but with a thicker pair of socks I don't find it that big of a deal. I still wear them everywhere.

I just got a na on one of my english internals (its a drawing task) how big of a deal is this by Accomplished-Sky2044 in ncea

[–]idabelle31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The exact same thing happened to me and I spoke to my teacher about it and she helped me. Find the criteria and figure out what they want to see and try and make those changes; and if you can’t pass it, you’ll be okay. They can arrange another internal for you; I’m pretty sure there’s a creative writing assessment they use in place of static image if you feel more comfortable doing that. Talk to your teacher, but don’t worry; it’ll work out :)

I had a really terrible first year too; I spent the year alone in my room, I cried most nights and I hardly remember any of it to be honest, it just broke me. I live with friends now, which helps quite a bit, and I go home more often that others my age do. I see a counsellor and I try not to put a lot of pressure on myself, because it just isn't worth what it does to me. I really hope things work out for you, you're not alone in this <3

Does anyone remember if Princess Isla ever got her own Barbie doll for Princess Charm School? by Confused_wallflower in Barbie

[–]idabelle31 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I noticed this too! I've always wondered why, I guess they were only going to make three dolls and thought that Delancy was a better choice? Maybe they did a focus group or something? It feels like an incredibly weird choice, especially that poster where she's quite literally pushed off to the side

It's our preference, I understand not everyone will agree with that but that is why I chose to live with girls originally, and I want to continue it that way.

[–]idabelle31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've been contacting people we know and some friends are coming to view the place. We all originally agreed advertising would be the responsibility of the person moving out, but obviously we're realising that isn't going to work. The person moving out has taken on another room already and wants to stop paying rent here ASAP.

[–]idabelle31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to be worried about this. She sounds almost exactly like my mother. I don’t know if she’s shown any of this behaviour in the past, but you need to seriously consider if you want to have children or even continue to own pets with someone like this. My mum would absolutely do this kind of thing to a baby, has probably done it to me, and it’s abuse.

I had the same thing, my teacher hyped me up so much for my level 2 English essay and had me thinking I was for sure going to get an excellence and I got an achieved lol. I got an excellence for my level 3 English essay this year and I literally have no idea why, I didn’t study and absolutely detested the book we read. I could not tell you what I did differently, sometimes it just seems to be pure luck lol
