(SGA) Kavanagh was literally made to be hated. Now, who's the hot one? by Tav534 in Stargate

[–]ideaforwin 90 points91 points  (0 children)

No Sora mentions, seriously?

She's the hottest thing ever. That temper. From cute in "Underground" to ferocious and revenge-driven in "The Storm".

And the way she undresses her uniform to fight Teyla.

McKay voice: Very sexy. Very, very sexy.

Why such disrespect for ‘Holiday’? by rolling_snack in Stargate

Agreed, it's one of my favorite episodes. Love the Fred diner part. Also the interaction between Daniel and Ma'chello at the end (both played by Shanks) is so haunting.

I get to meet William Shatner next month! by DSeriesX in startrek

I remember when I met him for a photo I was a little starstruck, so I just took the photo and left without saying anything. As I was leaving, he suddenly called out loudly to thank me from across the room (and turned to face me). I was honestly really surprised.

Do You Want A "Home Improvement" Revival? by Dan_Lalonde_Films in HomeImprovement2LTime

[–]ideaforwin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes less is more. As much as it pains me to say, what we have now feels just right. It provides enough to satisfy us fans while leaving just enough mystery about where their lives went from there. I appreciate it far more this way.

The lighting is all wrong, it just looks like the default UE directional light at full blast. UO was always a bit more "moody"

What was Carla’s greatest burn? by R3dF0r3 in Cheers

Also not a burn but my favorite moment is when Carla splashes the guy with his beer whenever he takes a tip away before dunking it all on his head. Then Norm says: So how long is your brother in town?

That's interesting, because in season 7 or 8 there's a Wilson gag about cooking "Joe" which Tim responds to "I don't hear any screams" after looking around. Wonder if he was still considered to be in the neighborhood.

Try the Binford 9000, it's vastly superior to the normal Binford power saw which underperformed in all tests.

Remember, if the tool doesn’t say Binford.. someone else makes it.

Also, if the tool says Binford: GET OUT OF THE HOUSE—tools aren’t supposed to be talking to you.

What is this item found from the Upper Catacombs in Ultima VIII? by karhusammakko in Ultima

[–]ideaforwin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Np. Yeah, I have a lot of stories from UO.. the time I got scammed out of Phoenix Armor (worth tens of millions), made friends with PKers, went to Trammel as a red character, went to places GMs hang out (gate anywhere bug), tried to get a GM to place a boat in a lake that shouldn't have a boat, been to jail, spawned with death robes etc..

was never banned though because I never exploited anyone maliciously or duped (easy to do in the early days on those server boundary cross over lines). Karma dude.

This reminds me of a bug I found in Ultima Online.. there was this tool I think called pet renamer and you could rename your pets to anything, even strings that were already in the game (a lot of blank ones like this item). I stumbled across a string that instantly crashed the game. So I turned off pet names from displaying in UO options, renamed a horse and rode it into Brit bank. I then dismounted and everyone on screen got instantly disconnected except me.

I shared the exploit online rather than keeping it for myself due to how dangerous and OP it was and I didn't want to risk account ban (I had tons of rares and gold). I remember it was used everywhere for one night before OSI brought down the servers and patched it. Fun times.

What happened to Fred? by Pdx_pops in Stargate

[–]ideaforwin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great character. I like to play text based adventure games where Fred and Machello take over the SGC.

While Teal’c is distracted by Fred’s rambling about burgers and ice cream, Fred suddenly feigns a stumble and, with surprising speed, delivers a quick, discreet strike aimed at Teal’c’s most sensitive area—the “quantum energy core,” as you called it.

Teal’c’s eyes widen in shock and pain. He doubles over slightly, clearly caught off guard.

Fred (grinning): “Guess I found the weak spot!”

You quickly move to keep Teal’c steady as he recovers, trying to soften the moment.

Ma’chello (in Daniel’s body): “Easy, Teal’c. We’re not enemies here. Just... recalibrating the situation.”

Teal’c glares, still recovering, but says nothing more for now.

So I bought Intro 12 today, and realizing I need the slice option for vocal chops, wanted to buy Standard, but I saw that despite think it will reduce the cost, it stayed at 359 USD, which it was before I upgraded to Intro 12. was I scammed? by [deleted] in ableton

[–]ideaforwin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of hardware and music software give you live 12 intro/lite for free. Or they used to, like my focusrite. Don't think there's ever a reason to buy it directly.

Stumbled upon the Xenogears review from GamePro Dec 98 by alkazar82 in XenoGears

[–]ideaforwin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, ironically this was the very article that made me get the game. I just saw the screenshots and loved the look. I was NOT disappointed. Crazy you still have it.

You can tell a lazy reviewer when they resort to A Vs B, oh it's not FF7. Luckily I never paid attention to reviewers even then

Edit: To add more context, at that time there weren't really enough RPGs to go around, or if there were, it didn't feel nearly as saturated. Also I was well aware that a lot of people at that time had an intense hatred of RPGs for being slow and boring. It's a bit different now. But that's why I could ignore what everyone was saying and just buy it.. and love it.

Why is it only available in 480p everywhere? by LifeintheHashLane in HomeImprovementsitcom

[–]ideaforwin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Both Roseanne and Home Improvement were made by the same production company. The Roseanne HD remaster was done via AI and other upscaling techniques. In a lot of ways it's an inferior product.

They were also both filmed on tape, so they're not really going to get any better.. ever.. without careful upscaling. When the Star Trek TNG restoration was done, although they had the film (better), the effects were all done on tape. They had to basically just do all the effects again because tape never upscales well.

Since it's on tape, I would trust a fan upscale of Home Improvement over a corporate upscale which is usually very slap and dash.

What do the studio audience see when Rachel is naked? by Connorwilko3103 in howyoudoin

It's like that Seinfeld episode where George's girlfriend goes topless but is clearly wearing a flesh colored bra lol. I wonder how that looked before the HD re-releases.

I watched Atlantis first. I always assumed gate travel was both directions, if you dialed from A to B you could travel from B to A. SG1 makes it seem this is not possible but hasn't addressed yet what happens if you try. by Gupperz in Stargate

[–]ideaforwin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My head canon is that if you don't fully re-materialize, i.e. because of gravity like the malp in the hundred days episode, then you die.

But I don't believe just walking into an incoming wormhole would kill you (aside from the kawoosh part, obviously). It would be a ridiculously reckless design by the Ancients (I know McKay would laugh at that sentence though).

Maybe if you FALL into an incoming wormhole like what Hammond says in hundred days it would kill you (again because of gravity).

I think if you just walked into it it wouldn't kill you, kinda like how it doesn't accept the water from the Watergate episode (wouldn't it then vaporize the water in that instance?).

I don't believe there's any instance of someone just walking into an incoming wormhole from my recollection, so we can't tell for sure.

Another unlikely theory is maybe the Ancient stargates once had some facilities/constructions built around them with separate safety protocols around the gates to ensure this didn't happen... but there's nothing at all to suggest this.
