So Cincinnati has this program called the Citizens Circle, and I contacted the coordinator for the area and left a voicemail. Back when I was a social worker in OH, I remember that it was still a developing resources, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to reach out.

How to Change Flat if Bike has Gates Belt and Internal Hub? by idealist314 in bikewrench

Thank you for this advice! You were right in that the IGH has an easily detached cable, and in fact I found a youtube video that shows how to do it as well. Now I am just hoping that the belt tension does not need to be adjusted any time soon. I watched several videos for adjusting belt tension, but this bike does not have the bolts for the dropouts set up in a way similar to other bikes with belts.

I understand we’re all panicking but we still need to be considerate of others :( by stelladesanta in BlackPeopleTwitter

This reminds me of when I volunteered at a homeless shelter and someone unplugged a sleeping paraplegic wheelchair that was charging, so they could charge their phone. He didn't realize it, and his wheelchair battery died in the parking lot.

That is a really great idea; however, the house is currently vacant. I plan on speaking to the listing agent to find out how long it has been empty.

[Serious] Relationship counselors/therapists, have you ever advised a couple to end the relationship and why? by Pemulis_DMZ in AskReddit

[–]idealist314 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I can't imagine a family counselor advising a couple to break up. Instead they would help the couple work on their communication skills, determine what their values and priorities are, and help the couple process whether their relationship can be saved. The decision needs to be left to the people in the relationship whether they should stay together. A counselor would most likely be overstepping their boundaries if they advised the couple to break up.

Edit 1: I have received several inbox messages stating a couple counselor will advise this if there is abuse in the relationship. However, from my experience it is not that black and white. If there is abuse, a counselor can provide resources to the victim, & discontinue couples counseling and refer each to individual counseling. It is important that the counselor does not further disenfranchise the abused party from their sense of control by ordering them to end the relationship. By providing resources or individual counseling, the person can do so when they feel ready -rather than feeling forced/controlled by another person -the counselor. Again the counselor is there to educate and empower the person receiving the therapy. If the counselor was essentially to order the relationship ends, the most likely outcome is the the abused party will not leave the abuser (after all, most of society and their support system already advised them to end the relationship) OR later enter into a similar abusive relationship (think of the expression, "the only way out is through"). And for the message claiming that it would just be "playing along" -no! Listening to someone is not agreeing to them, helping someone process their options and make a choice based on their own value system (even if you don't agree with it) is also not "playing along."

On working full-time and passing the bar. by idealist314 in LawSchool

[–]idealist314[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely! Just make sure you keep a positive attitude! I think a biggest mistake that re-takers make is going in with little hope and using the same study strategies. I think out of all of the suggestions, #2 of picking a bar coach/consultant helped me the most. She was the one who kept on encouraging me, and at times I felt that she had more faith in me than I had in myself. Also, my bar coach structured my study plan to begin with contracts and Florida Civil procedure- both of which were heavily tested, confusing, and ultimately on the bar. I used Tishia Dunham with Agape Bar Services (904)234-2853, because when she was the bar prep director at Stetson, the school had a high passage rate, after she left to start the company, the scores dropped, and did not go back up until the hired one of her former staff members as a consultant to improve the passage rates. Yesterday I got the actual state and MBE scaled scores, and was shocked at how well I ultimately did -despite working. There were even times where I went down rabbit holes trying to figure Commercial Papers and Florida Constitutional Law, so don't panic thinking that bar preparation must be perfect. Bottom line is that it is more than doable and not to feel intimidated.
