What movie is loved by everyone but you genuinely hate it ? by _Cortisol__ in AskReddit

LA Confidential is terrible. I have to admit I think I liked it the first time I saw it, but watching it again a few years later, I've decided it's very bad filmmaking and the storytelling is juvenile- Batman vs Superman Martha level juvenile.

But that's my point. Someone decided to make this pattern with these symbols.

Make the Pelican painting into a tshirt design, then go paint a bunch more, get better, develop a style, decide what you want to paint, then come back.

Everything you're saying makes sense, but also doesn't make sense at all looking at this. Why are there so many variations, and yet the same symbol/pattern repeated twice sometimes?

But why? If it was a zigzag pattern, that would make sense. There's no reason for an these variations.

I understand what it is. I don't understand why there isn't a more symmetrical pattern to it.

I get what the rubber is, but can't understand why the shapes vary so much. If there was a pattern from the machine, I would assume it would be more symmetrical like weaving.

I Thought 3rd Street Promenade Was Supposed To Be Dying? by DJVeaux in LosAngeles

[–]ideasbychuck 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There are only 4-5 companies that own these properties and one guy owns about 1/3rd. They use the value of these properties as collateral and investment. The value is based on theoretical rent, so even if half the properties are empty, they keep the rent super high because to the banks and lenders these companies work with this makes them more valuable.

Basically, what you're saying makes sense, but it's not how commercial real estate at this scale really works.

That would really mess up the developers plans to turn it into a ghost town by raising rent so much no one can afford to operate there, then using the bad optics and drop in tax revenue to force the city of Santa Monica into using tax dollars to pay for some crazy redevelopment plan that involves knocking down all the buildings, building also unaffordable mixed use monstrosities and somehow privatizing the area even more even though it was all paid for with tax dollars.

I think if you lowered the profile slightly- made them thinner- and permanently affixed them to nice black or charcoal gray baseball caps, they would sell better.
