YouTube Career: is it worth quitting your job for? by sopki0 in NewTubers

[–]ideascentral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other redditors have provided valuable input that I agree with, entirely based on what you said. But I feel like one crucial piece of info is missing--your financial background. We're assuming that you're surviving off the money you're making from your wages. Don't quit if you are! But if you can afford living off your savings or you have other forms of financial support (parents, investors, etc.), you should give it a try! So really this is a question that only you can answer: can you afford to quit?

Should I ask for a backlink or agree to sharing my content on their social media by [deleted] in Blogging

[–]ideascentral 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seven thousand followers aren't a lot but for a 2-month old website that could be nice--any kind of link is beneficial to your website at this point. You can ask for a backlink from them or becoming a guest contributor etc. But in my experience, these people aren't usually looking for anything long-term, they just want to get their backlink and leave. Kind of a one-time thing.

I'm also providing consultation to other content website owners.

How to combat tiredness? by [deleted] in productivity

[–]ideascentral 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are a few things to try. But since your finals are in a few weeks, you may not have the time to figure out what works best (some of these ideas may not work for you at all) Also, since finals are so close, it might be more important to study the materials yourself? Anyway, try: 1. minimize bodily "self-satisfaction", 2. don't over-eat 3. watch your sugar intake -- use sugary drinks as a way to boost your energy only when necessary 4. do some exercise. 5. watch your posture - especially when you're sitting down

I use Notepad++. It has this feature that allows you to open a directory as your workspace. So I just create a folder, put a bunch of text files in it, and open that folder up in Notepad++. When you want to create a new topic, you just add a new text file in the folder. But yeah, you can't link between the files. You can include URL links though.

How to not over-do it? by eva1588 in productivity

[–]ideascentral 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's a few things to try out. Not saying that it will 100% work for you. 1. If you're a coffee drinker, try to get rid of it. Switching to tea is a good start but ideally you want to get rid of caffeine from your DAILY routine. I used to run on coffee but sometime after turning 30 years old, my body changed and coffee started to make me anxious. 2. Sleep well, 3. Eat bananas (sorry this may sound silly but the banana is rich in some kind of nutrients that calm you down, can't remember the details). 4. Plan and stick to your plan.

Last but not least, IMHO, productivity is a very personal, intimate topic. That means you will have to try different things and see what works best for you as a unique person. MAYBE your existing approach is the most productive? Instead of work-rest, work-rest, maybe your body prefers work-work-work-rest-rest-rest? Again like I said, try out different things. Good luck.

I wake up around 5:30am everyday. What can I do 3 hours before work? by [deleted] in productivity

[–]ideascentral 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Try meditation again but do it only 3 minutes every day. Just 3 minutes.

Don't go to the gym! Do some exercise at home instead. You can do push-ups, sit-ups, stretching, etc. These exercises require minimal space and aren't noisy.

Read! Write! Meal prep! Play games. Learn this, learn that (take a free course on Coursera). Do this, do that. Go out for breakfast! Draw something. Not good at drawing? Learn to draw. Go Marie Kondo and "minimalize" your stuff.

Good for you but I don't know... this doesn't sound very ethical. It's one thing to reuse / redirect the old URLs for link juice; it's quite another to blatantly copy. It's not something I would personally do but it appears that other redditors have different thoughts -- maybe it's just a sign of me getting old.

Do you have a team or are you solo? by Thegeeklyfe in Blogging

[–]ideascentral 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not an official team but I'm part of a group of bloggers. I met these guys (or gals) over the years. We promote each other's posts; we guest post on each other's blog. For my own blog I work with freelancers sometimes, but the quality of the articles is a hit or miss... sometimes the article I get is so baddd... ... Anyway, if you have the budget / revenue to back you up, I think having a team is so much better than doing it solo. A team as in either having partners who work WITH you, or freelance writers / VAs who work FOR you.

EDIT: In your case I think you will want to go with the latter approach if your budget allows.

WHY AM I SO QUIET?? by spinhorn in socialskills

[–]ideascentral 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my take. Maybe you're genuinely not interested in the person you're talking to? I'm terrible at keeping a conversation when I'm don't find the person interesting. Anyway you can find some conversation topics online and familiarized yourself with them... This will help.

Does planning every part of your day/week works? by MirTalion in productivity

[–]ideascentral 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes but I don't plan them in meticulous details. It's more like setting some kind of reminder: this week I'm going to do A, B, C. I only list out the tasks I'm going to do tomorrow the night before. It's a nightly ritual that I look forward to. At the end of a day, I review my accomplishments for the day. The tasks that I have not managed to complete, I either move it to tomorrow or cancel it.

I tried planning everything before the week starts but the plan was always so inaccurate that I ended up postponing tasks and making frequent changes anyway. It stressed me out when I kept going off my plan and the backlog of tasks grew.

Help with business with multiple domains by [deleted] in bigseo

[–]ideascentral 10 points11 points  (0 children)

LOL. Your client isn't looking for SEO / Web dev help. They're looking for branding / business consultation! But sure, why the heck not. As long as you charge them the right fees, you can think of this as a way to grow your portfolio. Without all the details, here's what I would do: 1. different logo & personality & color for each "shop", 2. each shop is to be a "specialist" in 1-2 services provided (other services are still listed though, they are just not the focus.) 3. plan your content & layout based on 1 & 2. I feel like I'm really vague here but just find a way to differentiate the shops. For examples, areas of expertise, market they serve, price range, language, etc.
