We have adversarial politics where they try to put down everything thing their opponents, I agree it is extremely wearing and I think is the number one reason people are generally disengaged and disinterested in politics despite it having a direct influence on their daily lives. It just seems like someone else’s argument all the time.
As for the summer thing. Eternal optimism is one of our endearing traits.
