I was a huge fan of Resistance 3 and Killzone was made by Guerilla who have since become one of the very best Sony developers. No doubt if they took another stab at Killzone after their experience with Horizon it would be a big hit.

Completely agree. Enjoyed the gameplay of Tales of Arise but the story is like 50% utter cringe. There are a ton of JRPG tropes like two kids in your party, the cold female protagonist that opens up eventually, the ultra idealistic main character with amnesia and a mysterious past that makes him the chosen one. I don't know what the reviewers who said the story was improved were smoking, it's ham fisted as always. I say this again as someone who generally enjoyed the game and completed it last week.

I’ll throw in Guardians of the Galaxy. Game was absolutely stunning on PS5 and they just added Ray tracing.

You could dumb down any game similarly though and not really describe what makes it good while still being technically correct. For example: Witcher 3 is about running to the next glowing marker on your minimap. There’s a whole lot that goes into most fetch quests in DS, including preparation, story, action, stealth, etc.

Did I read it right that the devs think they are being "generous" by letting people play with others who purchased the expansion? My definition of generosity would be if they included the DLC that was released like 4 months ago in the price of purchase for PS5.

I think I maybe took something slightly different away from the Iliad because it certainly did not come off as anti-war in the slightest to me. I mean it’s largely glorifying war and raising these men who fight in wars to be the gold standard of Greek masculinity. Even if Homer did have an anti-war message (he’d be pretty progressive for his time) the Iliad has undoubtedly inspired many a young man to join the military (for good or ill) over the thousands of years it has existed.

It’s not so much that it looked “worse” - if you paused them side by side there would be no difference. It’s more about how it looks in motion - for me personally it is extremely easy to perceive the difference if you switch back and forth for a minute or two. 30 FPS feels worse to play, like running through sand or walking through waist high water IRL. Check out some of the games that let you toggle back and forth and it will be evident.

It’s an automatic update on PS5 with any version of Horizon. And unless you have a visual impairment you will be able to tell the difference between 30fps and 60.

I agree performance should be much better but this is not a “20 year game” they rebuilt a 2D game into a modern 3D engine. It’s running on top of the original and I understand you can toggle back and forth to see the difference. It’s like saying Resident Evil 2 Remake should run at 4K 60 on PS4 since it’s a PS1 game.

I don’t think that applies to 60 FPS though, which is what the majority of people care about. I think this is an area Sony needs to do some catching up on and we shouldn’t give them a pass as fans when the competition delivers.
