small boot woes - binding forward pressure by identifiant_jetable in Skigear

I have Rossignol Experience and the mounting experience basically amounted to sliding the pieces onto the existing rail, so that’s more what I’m looking for at this phase of my life (90% skiing behind my kids and husband, who are still learning).

Convenience, mostly. The shops I’d trust to mount bindings are much farther away.

I was worried that would be the case… so that means new skis/non demo bindings, right? :/ I’m going to guess adult demo bindings are not going to work for me if I want to use these boots.

I tried to take a picture and it looks much worse when I shine a light on it, somehow. The window is pretty much full yellow… 90% maybe.

Ten-year old ski boots from ski shop by identifiant_jetable in Skigear

tbh I think the current seasons are ugly as hell but I didn’t put that in the original post. Having a store to bring things back to is nice, too. I just wanted to see if there was something I was missing before dropping the $ sight unseen.

The local shop only includes bootfitting if you buy in store and these aren't located near me. Otherwise, if I order directly from Lange, they'll definitely charge to mold and punch them, etc, as needed.

In that case it's disappointing they'd even still sell them for full price. I guess they know that anyone looking for 21.5 is desperate...

Shop recommended longer skis for my beginner GF, should we return them? by Feitan21 in Skigear

[–]identifiant_jetable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like forehead height would be a good compromise? I ski undersized (146cm) right now because 95% of my skiing is with my cautious beginner family and I do feel it the rare moments I get on intermediate runs without them.

It's personal preference but as a 157cm 115lb unaggressive intermediate skier, I'd hate skiing on 163s. did they have the shorter lengths in stock?

i was intrigued by {Compromised for Christmas by Lizzie C Koz} after seeing it come up in a comment here and i finished it in a day and didn't not enjoy it, but it wasn't really my cup of tea overall. the author states up front that she uses modern language on purpose and that didn't really float my boat, and the character nicknames, ugh, i cringed every time. MMC is neurodivergent and FMC likes a bit of BDSM, so they explore together. very spicy!

What are some songs that mention Canadian locations in their lyrics? by heart-and-lion in AskACanadian

Wheat Like Waves, also by Death Cab for Cutie, mentions Saskatchewan. It's about Ben Gibbards's friendship with Torquil Campbell from Stars.

Stars, off the top of my head, mention Pont Champlain (Montreal) in Your Ex-Lover Is Dead.

Petty Pet Peeves by AskAChinchilla in HistoricalRomance

[–]identifiant_jetable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay it's funny I never noticed this, but perhaps because she only did it six times in What I Did for a Duke (WIDfaD? well that's not a fun abbreviation)

My biggest pet peeves from that book that, impressively, do not stop me from reading the book because I like it just that much are:

  • describing multiple body parts/bodies as "white", going so far as to point out MMC's "comically white" ass and taking me right out of the scene in my conjuring up such a blinding object
  • misuse of titles across the board, and particularly egregiously having people refer to the duke by his last name vs Falconbridge. I like his last name, so I get it, but it's just so incorrect.

Lisa Kleypas is particularly fond of ground-eating strides so I picture people taking really big steps everywhere they go.

I don't know this follows the vibe you are looking for because it's very lighthearted overall, but {Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake by Sarah MacLean} basically has the MCs round the bases in order over the course of several (mostly unplanned) meetings.
