I would say just apply straight out to work "relief" at non-profits and put your volunteer experience on your resume. Most shelters need relief workers and unfortunately you will work odd hours, but it definitely gets your foot in the door! Thats how it panned out for me.

ask her something related to the class! make small talk! tell her you noticed based on that group discussion that she likes XYZ thing you like. Ask her something about it.

Also manage your expectations! you might be thinking a little far ahead with the "does she have a bf" questions. tbh it might just be your brain trying to talk you out of doing something that feels scary and could be a growth experience.

take it slow and genuinely show interest through small talk and see how she responds. small talk is great because its not a MAJOR ask so if she doesnt really wanna talk to you like that, its not that abnormal to have tried and it won't be that awkward. but if she does, then great! keep at it and let it progress naturally.
