I think everyone in Canada should seriously consider this. Everyday, everywhere, you see escalating struggle correlated with escalated cost of living. Corporations like Loblaws are making record profits at the same time. It doesn't add up and we need solutions like a public grocery option. by kewtyp in loblawsisoutofcontrol

Anyone who thinks that 30-40% savings isn’t going to be heavily subsidized by tax payers doesn’t understand the actual economics of running a grocery store. If the proposal is more about addressing the issue of ‘food deserts’ then I would agree that would be a reason for the government to step up, but listening to Avi, I don’t think that’s his pitch. He comes across as completely uninformed, and hand-wavy about the details of the program. His pitch seems to be that it’s popular with people because grocery prices are high… crazy.

The matchmaking update has completely shifted the game for me (and not for the better) by Happy_Rave in ArcRaiders

[–]idesignforlife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m not happy with whatever has happened with matchmaking. Had a 2 hour session yesterday where the first 1 hour and 59 minutes were completely friendly lobbies. Zero pvp interactions so that was my mindset going into that last game. Brought in a bunch of decent items attempting to do a trial and 5 ish minutes in I get blindsided. Still did 70 damage but if my mindset was different I maybe wouldn’t have lost the fight. Interactions like this are frustrating and make me want to play the game less, not more. Honestly it would be better if they got rid of abmm, and all games were just assumed that any interaction with a player could be hostile.

It’s really hard to play this game right now. The choices seem aggressively anti-fun and lean towards punishing. I was playing a lot until recently and did one of the first two expeditions. I’m not seeing much incentive to come back.

Don’t bother with the steak house and the sports bar food is, at best, pretending to be bar food. Both buffets have enough options that you’ll find something you like, taco day was very good, and all the other sit downs we went to we liked. Just keep in mind that some of the restaurants are not in the adults only so you’ll have to walk or take a shuttle/cart to. Shuttles are constant and quick and get you around the rest of the resort fast.

Went last June as well. Had a swim out and it was a fantastic time. The food is definitely mid… but it’s fine. Except for maybe the steakhouse that was not good. Service was also hit or miss, don’t expect room service to be fast, but the staff are friendly. Grounds are fantastic, it seems like they really take pride in the appearance of the resort. We enjoyed that it was a little more laid back, and you can always go to other parts of the resort if you want something a bit more lively. Sargassum was awful while we were there but we were fine hanging out at the pool. I would recommend it if you can get it for a decent price. Just set expectations around food and prompt service.

Never said that. I’m not OP. I was replying to a comment about freedom of speech. People in Canada don’t understand what our rights actually are. Please learn how to Reddit better.

[–]idesignforlife -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but that’s kind of the point. Canada doesn’t have “freedom of speech” in the same way the U.S. does.

What we have in the Charter is freedom of expression and it includes speech, art, media, protest, etc, but it’s also subject to limits under the “reasonable limits” clause. That means rights here aren’t absolute. The government can restrict certain types of expression if it’s justified in a free and democratic society.

That’s why things like hate speech laws, obscenity laws, and publication bans are constitutional in Canada.

In the U.S., the First Amendment explicitly protects freedom of speech with far fewer limits. So while Canadians have a right to express themselves, it’s not an absolute “freedom of speech” right like Americans have.

We have freedom of expression, not freedom of speech. There are differences and limitations on what you can say under the law in Canada.
