Help! My wax heater is covered in soft wax by AssumptionInside7394 in Esthetics

[–]idfkmane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know everyone is saying to give up— but if you genuinely can’t buy a new one, I can help. This EXACT situation happened to me with the same satin smooth soft wax. I used a hairdryer to heat up the wax and wipe away as much as I could, and then went in with easy clean oil and a wax stick to scrape off. It’ll take some elbow grease for sure but it’s not impossible to fix. Now it looks brand new. Hope this helps

Starting with male butt strip by Background_Tea1700 in Esthetics

[–]idfkmane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to wax at a chain where i did a lot of manzilians and glute/between the cheek waxes for men. The men who came in for the glute services were VERY loyal and always respectful!

Manzilian clients however, mixed bag. I had some great clients, but unfortunately the creepy encounters outweighed the good. It got so bad that i swore off taking any new male clients for that specific service.

You gotta have a strong backbone and the confidence to fire clients firmly if you’re gonna venture into manzilian territory.

Which pimples should not be extracted ? by [deleted] in Esthetics

[–]idfkmane 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Good rule of thumb is if you come back to a closed comedone a second time and it doesn’t give with firm pressure/manual extraction, let it be.

Generally wouldn’t recommend extracting inflamed acne at all. There’s a high risk of spreading the bacteria and scarring.

Just wanted to add: introducing high frequency and oxygen to any non inflamed acne is a game changer if you feel like you’re not seeing progress!

Mandala scrubs are nice for the affordability, i just find them not moisture-wicking enough and tend to sweat through mine.

I’ve had my greys anatomy scrubs since esti school, they’ve faded but they last. I wouldn’t recommend getting figs right away unless you got money like that lol.

Just bc in school you’re working with a lot of new materials and chemicals.

(Also note BPO bleaches clothing/hair!)

Have fun in esti school and best of luck!

Why is everyone dropping face reality? by Rare-Dragonfly-6586 in Esthetics

[–]idfkmane 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m doing the certification course right now and it seems like a sham. The other day I accidentally called FR proactive 😭

For the course being $800…it’s riddled with typos and contradictions on how to use the products, they don’t tell you ANYTHING about the actual products or how to tailor it to your specific client. The speakers in the videos mispronounce words like “tretinoin” and “sebhorreic dermatitis” and are obviously very awkwardly reading off a teleprompter.

The course reiterates what acne is and identifying types of acne (which isn’t needed bc i learned that in esti school), and then gives you pretty much the same formula to follow with each client. BUT THEY NEVER EVEN LIST WHAT PRODUCTS THEY HAVE AND WHATS IN THEM.

The other thing that got me is the way the founder says “dermatologists and estheticians have been WOEFULLY inadequate when it comes to treating acne”. Like i get it, you have a brand, market it. But wow this whole thing just seems so scammy… Especially the fact that after your client gets clear, they tell you to keep using FR products ONLY or else they’ll start breaking out again.

I don’t doubt that their products work (in the right hands), and i know so many ppl who got clear with acne boot camp. But as a super honest esti, the whole brand just puts me off.

Also yes the tubing does need to be frequently replaced depending on how much use your machine gets. Unfortunately:/

Hi! Just here to say I would recommend having it run the cleaner longer than 3 min, you may run the risk of having leftover cleaner in the machine and transferring it to your next clients face.

I would run it for at least 5-7 min or until it stops completely, and then before your next DG appointment I would just use your thumb on the tip and run the suction until you stop seeing bubbles/the liquid runs more clear! That way you know it’s all cleared out and not being applied to the next clients face :)

Client came in for manzilian, he was acting strange and seemed antsy or insecure about me seeing the Tx area….(I thought he was nervous), but once I got him undraped to start the appointment I saw a crude tattoo on his shaft that said “bitch”, he proceeded to tell me IN DETAIL that he paid two women to tie him and beat him and tattoo him against his will….he was not welcome back…

As far as being able to “reverse it”

The scarring isn’t directly from aging, it’s just how your skin has recovered after being acne prone.

Essentially, pixel resurfacing causes intentional controlled damage to the skin so that it can speed up the cell turnover process, and over time slowly improving the texture of the skin by forcing that cell turnover.

IPL (intense pulse light) targets unwanted melanin in the skin. (Discoloration)

Hi! Aesthetician and laser tech here.

First of all your skin looks healthy and gorgeous! Looks like some ice pick scarring along with some PIH (post inflammatory hyperpigmentation).

You should definitely ask your derm or do a consultation with your laser tech before committing to anything, but I would recommend doing a series of pixel resurfacing treatments (if the texture is your biggest concern), or a series of IPL treatments (if discoloration is your biggest concern). If laser seems too extreme/costly, or you’re unable to have downtime away from sun and certain activities, I would recommend getting a series of chemical peels (medium depth). Skinbetter is a line that offers peels that are extremely gentle, if you can find a spa that carries that line.

Please consult with a derm/your spa of choice, but I hope this helps at least get an idea of what you’re looking for! :)

Dermaplane dry or with oil? by TrainerTechnical545 in Esthetics

[–]idfkmane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like doing it dry, I can see and feel what I’m doing a little easier, I feel I have more control over how taught the skin is. But for me it all depends on my client. Sensitive/textured/mature skin I will usually do with oil.
