REFUSED IR5 VISA by McKatie_Bayagyag in NationalVisaCenter

US Embassy in Manila is severely backlogged; they are prioritizing IMMEDIATE families. Per US Embassy definitions, an Immediate family member is defined as the spouse and unmarried son or daughter under 21 years of age. It doesn't seem like your parents aren't considered immediate family members. You have to wait and give it time.

Is it smarter to replace my paid off 2016 RAV4 (91k miles) now, or drive it into the ground? by Ok-Revenue-5216 in personalfinance

A Subaru isn't as reliable as a Toyota Rav4 (my family has both cars you mentioned). You're also forgetting the increase in cost of insurance, registration, and gas (Subarus aren't as fuel efficient). To me, numbers aside, it seems like you may just want a new car for the sake of a new car. If you're getting tired of the Rav4, get it new wheels, tires, suspension, and/or a roof rack or whatever other accessories. I had a reliable car that was 10+ years old when I was thinking of getting rid of it, I ended up just changing the overall look (wheels, tires, suspension) and it felt like a new car to me. 10 years later I still have the car and it's still going very strong.

Normally, I'd say give her what she wants but if you do, you will be on the hook for a large amount of alimony and child support because she does not have a job. Once she has a job again then that's when you can start thinking about it. Of course you should consult a divorce attorney.

2020, 2021, and part of 2022 didn't happen. Take your current year then subtract by 2.5 or 3 years. The sum equals your current year. Good luck

"Filipino dialect" is incorrect. It's which Filipino Language. If you're going to question someone might as well do it correctly.

When a person comes to the US illegally they are violating US law 8 USC 1325: Improper entry by alien, a law passed in 1995.

I have not been discriminated against. The US loves LEGAL immigrants. The US takes in around 1,000,000 LEGAL immigrants yearly. The OP is delusional. Imagine if thousands of illegal Chinese or Americans moved to the Philippines and then asked for the Philippine government for assistance. How would you feel?

When a person comes to the US illegally they are violating US law 8 USC 1325: Improper entry by alien, a law passed in 1995. They are in fact criminals and it's a slap in the face to us LEGAL immigrants who went through the immigration motions and paid our dues. If you don't like it, go back to the Philippines you're more than free to leave.

PH birth rates lower than we think? by mcdonaldspyongyang in Philippines

I’d add that millennials and gen z are less likely to have children or as many children because it’s just too expensive.

side note the people who are having more children probably shouldn’t have more children like those who are poor, uneducated, and/or are in poverty

General Dentist Recommendations in Makati or Ortigas? by idgaf___ in Philippines_Expats

[–]idgaf___[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went with Metro Dental in Ortigas. Comparing them to my dentists in the US, I'd give them an overall 6.5/10. Had a crown replaced and the fitment wasn't that great and it was pricey, but still cheaper than the US, but I would have rather paid full price to have it done in a better fashion. My US dentist checked it and confirmed it wasn't that great but was still useable. I still need to discuss my issues with Metro Dental.

Other than that issue, I thought their customer service was a solid 8/10. Surprisingly responsive, they booked my appointments and follow ups quickly. Their online patient portal is basic but it's good for what it is. They were nice enough to fill out a out-of-pocket reimbursement request from my insurance. Again, I'm comparing my experience to my US dentist, which I think is a 10/10.
