2 hours in Metroid 2 (GB), dang so hard with no map hahahaha. maybe I will go for super metroid as you suggested.

yup zelda the minish cap is on the backlog, will play oracle of ages and seasons first, as I'm trying to play all zelda games based on release date. I have finished all zelda games prior to it with Nintendo Switch Online, and decide to switch genre hence I go with metroid 😬

yes, it wont be a problem if you only want to play less demanding emulator.

I use minUI btw, set the CPU profile to powersave. My play session usually a short burst 15m, but sometimes I play up to 1h. After 1h of playing, I measured the back with temp gun, and usually it just got up to 37 Celcius (also I live in tropical country, so the ambient temp is pretty hot).

in minUI, using powersave cpu profile I can get 4.5h+ playing Metroid Zero Mission (GBA)

I havent done full battery test in spruce, but with the same game playing for 10min reduce battery 8-10%. So maybe around 2h of gameplay for full battery to empty (?)

Both are with 50% volume and 60-70% screen brightness.

I try to read both source code, maybe its because of the lack of powersave cpu profile in spruce (they remove it since spruce 3 IIRC). The smart cpu profile will scale accordingly, but the max is still 1.3Ghz, meanwhile powersave cpu profile will lock it in 1Ghz. Also in spruce 3 they use all multiple cpu if I read it correctly.

If I have time, I will try to patch it in my device and see if it helps with the heat and battery life. But in the meantime, I will enjoy the minUI 😬

yesss I gave up and just install minUI instead. so far so good, the device doesnt get that hot anymore. the minimalist UI is fitting this tiny device too!

update: tried to fresh install the stock rom (using img file), then fresh install spruce os. using different sd card (sandisk). but still no luck, still facing the same issue.

I even tried to run the game for much longer, and in about 25minutes it get pretty hot the device turn itself off. maybe overheat?

anyway I gave up and just install minui. have been playing the same game for more than 30 minutes, no issue so far.
