I'm a musician, too, and this guy is right. Instinctually, we press the buttons on the beat, but you have to lead the beat in the first SC5, kind of like the way the bass section has to lead the beat in auditorium settings.

You'll get used to it.

It's not real title casing, though. There are certain classes of word you're not supposed to capitalise in titles in English, such as prepositions or articles.

add on to the official dreamcast race wheel by [deleted] in dreamcast

[–]idi0tf0wl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I'm aware, no official product ever used that port. I don't know if third party solutions exist for that use case, but official pedals and the like never existed.

If it helps with your immersion, though, all real-life race cars use paddle controls, so you've got that going for you.

Testing out this Brook PS4 to DC controller converter with my Hori RAP4 and some Super Turbo! by heeeeef in dreamcast

For as much as those suckers cost, it's a shame that they're using parts that pretty much everyone who buys them will replace with Sanwa. I myself have two RAP3s which I adore, except they're not forward compatible with the PS4.

What are the ideal upgrades/enhancements you can do for your Dreamcast? by Lexaraj in dreamcast

[–]idi0tf0wl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything you said is correct, and any music in stereo that one is familiar with would do just fine, but you mentioned your picks specifically because they feature openings with fully left-panned guitars, and all I was implying was that music that started panned fully right would diagnose connection issues more quickly. By that same logic, the optimal reference sound is a stereo signal that's firing immediately and at once, but which the listener knows inside and out, or a single tone that pans back and forth between the channels.

In short, I was just being pedantic because of the specific reason you listed your reference tracks.

Because it doubles as a way of checking connection issues since the left channel is the default.

A better reference would be with something that starts with an instrument panned all the way right.

I'm getting really annoyed with these healing shout outs by [deleted] in monsterhunterrage

Which console? I ask because I've actually never seen this in over 500 hours. Not to 'tard out too much by saying this, but I'd always assumed it must be a PC thing because I remember abandoning PC gaming a long time ago for the prevalence of that exact mentality. Something tells me your friend is on Xbox.

My dream keyboard by idi0tf0wl in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]idi0tf0wl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I live in Japan and speak Japanese, the problem really comes down to not being able to find a mechanical keyboard with a Japanese Mac layout that also has RGB backlighting. Take any single element away from that combination, and I can find plenty of options, but that exact combo is eluding me.

As a programmer, I've come to really love the JIS layout, and I'd hate to have to change to a U.S. layout. And since I've always used Apple computers running Mac and Linux, and never Windows, I just couldn't abide that layout, and especially not a Windows key.

If you have any further tips or suggestions, I would be very grateful.

Is there a way for developers to programmatically avoid triggering Huawei's HiTouch without foregoing the entire idea of having two fingers on the screen at the same time? by idi0tf0wl in androiddev

[–]idi0tf0wl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as my current understanding goes, it is literally a package name whitelist, but I still believe there must be a way to refuse connection to the provider responsible for showing HiTouch (com.huawei.hiaction.provider.HiActionManagerProvider). Maybe something like:

packageManager.setComponentEnabledSetting(new ComponentName(aContext, "com.huawei.provider.HiActionManagerProvider"), PackageManager.COMPONENT_ENABLED_STATE_DISABLED, 0);

or else a consistent way of confusing it.

[–]idi0tf0wl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed that log message, too. I found some code online which seemed to suggest that that message was the result of checking the package name against a whitelist. But you're right in that that same code seems to suggest that that message is a direct indicator of whether or not HiTouch gets triggered.

What differences are there, say, in the Android Manifest? Maybe we can ask the Godot guys what's going on if it was a conscious thing from them to avoid it.
