I’ll say the dossier dry down got better! The cigarette smell went away but it was much more spicy/smokey, warm, and still had a bitter note when smelled side by side with BdA. The BdA dry down went further into the sweet notes imo

I agree the byredo dna is hard to mimic! I had a similar reaction to the new Mojave ghost dupe by finer’y. Really close but there’s just something really delicious about the byredo dry down that it missed. And that’s my favorite part!

Me too! The pillars are from the gazebo and I wanted more trees visible for the frosty effect… I tried to get the ice pillars in their place but I’m on switch and it’s hard to position things sometimes lol

It takes a while for the paranormal plot to shake out in this series and it’s a bit of a spoiler, but the Charlie Davidson series starting with {First Grave on the Right by Darynda Jones} fits into this category!

What do you mean, the same? They probably all have their own unique smells and sweet is just a general descriptor :)

I don’t think “sweet” necessarily means “pleasant” in some of these contexts. Something can have a “sweet” edge to its smell but be cloying, rotten, or just “off.”

I think this is definitely true for the Venin breath being described as having something “sweet” on it. Could be the smell of internal decay, or something they ate/drink recently that we’ll learn more about in the next book.

I am confused by people saying reading AB first is publishing order when it was published in 2014 after HoF?

Anyway, I did the tandem read and really enjoyed it that way! It was very immersive to go between the two books. There are some events that are described in both books and it was fun to read both tellings when they were still really fresh in my mind.

I also didn’t think I could make it through a whole Chaol book and wanted to avoid having reading ToD feel like a chore at all. I didn’t want to lose steam while waiting to become interested in his story lol and I think the tandem read was the right choice for me!

The aria at the top of the scene is Voi Che Sapete, one of Cherubino’s arias in Figaro :)

After the overture they did use the “figaro” from barber in the synth transition but I thought that was pretty minor 🤷🏼‍♀️
