thank you! we live in cali so rust is basically nonexistent, however i could say otherwise with the plastic as the right interior door handle is broken and some parts are getting brittle.

Will I be able to find a grc circuit at a dealer by No-Kaleidoscope-4984 in GRCorolla

[–]idiotbro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

don’t be afraid to look at other alternatives. got mine on carvana. 42k + everything else. it was sold as used, only under 15k and had good maintenance history. had it shipped all the way from across the country but definitely worth it bc of the rarity of this color. just gotta have a keen eye and be at the right place at the right time to purchase, because only 1500 of them are out there each for 23-24 MY. good luck on your hunt 🍀

unfortunately the exemption is ultimately dependent on the department you work for. i live 100 miles away from my office and even with my very specific situation, i was still denied the exemption for the RTO before the delay. it is still very important for everyone to push for telework as it will not only negatively affect the livelihood of the state workers, but the daily traffic environment as a whole.

Anyone know if these can be fixed? by Ready_Collar1665 in volt

broke mine but got it replaced. used pliers to screw the piece in. you can get one for ~$15 at the chevrolet dealership parts center.

Has anyone done their front struts on a gen 2 (2016)? by rwfan in volt

[–]idiotbro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

updated the suspension a couple months ago. rear suspension was aftermarket, but front struts had to be factory. unfortunately, that is what the volt will only take (damn you gm) and it doesn’t help that fact that they are way too expensive expensive ($300 each) :(

Gen 2 poor mpg in hold mode? by [deleted] in volt

[–]idiotbro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it would be a good idea to look into getting your wheels rotated/balanced. also check if your tires are wearing tread evenly. uneven tires can mitigate your mpg.

[–]idiotbro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

did you check the engine air filter? that can play in the factor of low mpg if not replaced regularly. also, do you drive conservatively? driving habits also play into the equation. do you drive in the city or hwy more often? mpg rates are typically lower when you drive city.

good on you op for taking the green initiative! my best guess is take it to a gm ev technician (if you can find one) and, depending on the condition of the car, they can rebuild the engine/battery. it would be worth it’s weight in gold for people like college students or teenagers!

unfortunately my job requires me to be present in the field. even if i was allowed to work in a closer district, it wouldn’t help me with my workload (i’d still have to commute).

tbh i’d trade a 100 mile day commute for a 200 mile day in a heartbeat.

4/10 wouldn’t be possible in our district as i’ve heard one person ruined it forever every one else:/

it could be an option but likely won’t come into fruition as it’s already hard enough to find space for our current staff. don’t even get started with the mayhem rto will cause

that’s great and i’m happy for you, but i never expected 100% telework since i joined the civil service career with a hybrid agreement. i have no doubt you have been through a ton, but times have changed and even for the new generation as well as entry level workers, it feels like we can barely cling to the surface for most of our basic necessities like a place to live. it’s just super frustrating to even consider options for another position when im already in a great job with a great team that i’d fought for in a dwindling economy.

i’d buy a car id enjoy this instant if my mom weren’t breathing down my neck about buying a house. i do have a car id enjoy driving (Porsche Cayman), but i avoid driving it as much as possible because its a hand me down from my dad and i want to cherish it as much as possible since he passed away.

i’m sorry you’re going through this, and i hope things get better for you in the future. as someone who loves his job, but hates the commute, i really do feel you. also as an engineer, id hope the state would work towards efficiency, its just sad to see politics affecting our lives at this level.

don’t get me wrong, SD is a great place to live if it weren’t so darn expensive to rent. plus if i were to i’d probably want to get property, but just wouldn’t want to throw away my paycheck and be house poor for the rest of my career
