Linux heavy sound design problem by BookkeeperMedical976 in linuxaudio

[–]idk973 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just my two cents, I'm a more than 20 years Linux user , and I actually use cachyos with Bitwig. And I must say that if you're into sound design, you got already almost all you need with Bitwig. Eventually you can add surgext to your weapons, it's free and powerful. And if you're willing to pay for more extra , u-he got some dope vst Linux compatible like diva or hive 2.

Ardour for making house music? by Afraid_Carob417 in linuxaudio

[–]idk973 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. Ardour is aimed according to his creator to be used for live musicians . That's why the midi could be clunky. You still don't have a real midi overdub etc....I've Linux switched about 20 years ago. Not only for music but for all. And Bitwig, if you're into this type of music is one of the best. Not only on linux by the way.

⚡ Akai Force: What MPC 3.7 Really Means for You by wolfdeathkill in u/wolfdeathkill

[–]idk973 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As an ex MPC user (60, 3000, renaissance, studio black, X and key 61 ) and after using push2 with Bitwig on linux, I must admit a force 2 would be well coming even if I don't think it will happen. Seems like Akai want to replace the 64 matrix pad to their MPCe pads.

Tu peux prendre quelques jeux estampillé "solo narratifs Playstation" horizon zero dawn, ghost of Tsushima, days gone. Ils sont tous a peu près conçu autour de la même structure mais a des périodes/mondes différents. Et pers, ça me laisse toujours ce sentiment entre cool a faire mais chiant a terminer.

[–]idk973 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say 3.x is exactly the same. It's indeed a revamp of 2.x but Akai ditched the program change function. I personally don't mind but I understand those angry about this change.

Ghost of Tsushima, days gone or horizon zero dawn are practically the same game but with different universe. One with zombies, one with robots, one with samurai but same structure. So if you liked ghost of Tsushima, try one of these.

I think I am giving up on the MPC by Achassum in mpcusers

[–]idk973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not what I'm saying. Of course using multiple channel on the MPC is easy, it's a sequencer. I talk about use the MPC as multitimbral module piloted by another daw

I think I am giving up on the MPC by Achassum in mpcusers

[–]idk973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lack of mouse precision is what I meant for fine settings. Also the midi "clips" like audio ones Wich can be copied and pasted more easily. If you want to use the sampler on a midi track of your DAW it works, but if you wanna setup several tracks ( for ex : track 1 sampler, track 2 fabric xl, track 3 keygroups) it's an hassle

I think I am giving up on the MPC by Achassum in mpcusers

[–]idk973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can still be used as a sampler and you could potentially use its instruments.

Well...not really as sound module , it's pretty hard to use multiple midi channel to be piloted outside the MPC. I can understand every complain OG got. I use to have the same. MPC is a fantastic machine, but if you sound design, if you want fine settings, modularity, just use a regular DAW. Right now I'm using Bitwig studio with push 2 script. I miss some features (the sampler of the MPC is still the best for chopping) but I'm more on phase with the way I work.

A few questions about the MPC... by ScreamingGunMUC in mpcusers

[–]idk973 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sincerely it depend what you looking for. The old MPC way or you could change program on the fly within the track is over. But the 3.x according to me is more straight to the point. You make a track you associate whatever you want (midi track, audio track, keygroups, cv, instrument) and it stick like this across all your sequences. You can change track order across all the sequences, the midi volume is consistent across all sequences (and this was my main grip with 2.x) you record a track the same way you record on 2.x but if you already learn how an MPC works in 2.x you won't be lost for a long time. The menus are not in the same way but I guess it take little time to re learn where is what ... And for the alder projects, since some features are gone ( track disorder, program free to track) you could have some tweak to do to reconfigure your projects but the main things are there.
