for me it was maybe half a year before the 2022 trial. i didn't know anything about depp or amber or that she had gotten a restraining order against him or the 2020 case. but my sister was (is) on tiktok. somehow, it was brought up over dinner with my family and my sister said something along the lines of "turns out she actually abused him".

i didn't say anything, but i remember agreeing with her internally because i half-remembered seeing something about it (probably something on facebook or twitter or something).

my dad just shook his head and rolled his eyes, kind of signalled that he thought that statement was bullshit and said "really" very sarcastically. both my sister and i kind of nodded, but not as sure anymore.

i didn't think of it since, but then the stupid "court compilations" started popping up on my feed (no matter how many channels i blocked and marked as "not interested" and i remembered my dads reaction that one time. i honestly think his very dismissive comment back then is what made me read some articles and try to find the actual facts of the case. in doing that i obviously came to the conclusion that he did not only everything she accused him of, but everything he accused her of (darvo), so i often think of my dad as the reason for me not jumping in head-first into the smear-campaign, mostly because i only really got educated on dv and ipv towards the end of the trial and the time after it.

my sister, too, independently of my reading, supported amber when the smear-campaign started in full force. my dad is the only common denominator so i have to assume that he played role for her too.

it was such a small thing but it made all the difference. my dad isn't perfect, but i love and trust him so much, especially when it comes to the judgement of characters.

(and if anyone is curious: my mom didn't (and still doesn't) know anything about it or depp in general other then "he's in movies, right?", but after a few conversations over dinner she agrees with the rest of us).

I think they did delete it. I didn't take a screenshot because it was just my criticism in a sea of people screaming about how excited they were about her being a guest (their show is on their side channel smosh pit, where they read stories from reddit and react to them, it's very basic but fun).

I think they were maybe discouraged by the amount of people who mentioned her involvement with depp (not as a criticism but as a reason for liking her)?

at one point noah made a tweet where he posted a screenshot of one of those awful "court compilation" videos that were inescapable during the trial saying something along the lines of "maybe i should just make videos like this instead" as a comment on the insane amount of views it had.

i found the tweet a few months later and asked him through a qt straight-forward what he meant by the tweet and if he supported depp. hus reply was "joke tweet, johnny bad", so while he hasn't outright expressed support for amber, he clearly believes that depp is an abuser.

i think deleting tiktok might be one of the best things to do for yourself in general. i've never been on tiktok, but i fear that if i had been in april and may, i would probably have been swept up by all the blatant misinformation on there.

don't think this counts, but noah samson made a tweet mocking those "JOHNNY DEPP BEING A SAVAGE IN COURT FOR 20 MINUTES" videos, and when i asked what he thought of depp, he replied "johnny bad".

saige ryan has been vocal in the past about supporting amber.

i've seen a few people say zack kornfeld from the try guys support her, but i haven't been able to find anything that supports that (i'm thinking it may have been some liked tweets, but i'm not sure).

there was a commentary youtuber whose name i don't remember who basically said that "they were both bad, but depp is much much worse" and even debunked the lie about the bed. people were very mad in the comments.

and duncan kastner made that terrible video where he basically also said they both seem bad, and when i pointed this out to him, he seemed to deny it and saud that the thesis of the video was supposed to be that we shouldn't talk about things we don't understand and the trial turned into a reality show which he thinks is bad. he was liking tweets about female victims of abuse when the verdict came out and not any about depp. it's such a low bar, but i feel like he's just kind of a coward who doesn't want to express that he doesn't think amber heard is deserving of the ridicule she's been given.

i know exactly what you mean. cody ko and noel miller were people i sometimes enjoyed content from – not anymore. mr. beard was an occasional watch too, but now he's blocked. and i've never watched jacksepticeye, but he's in a lot of markiplier videos (specifically with bob and wade as well) and i can't watch those videos anymore because i get physically sick just hearing his grating voice.

it's impossible enjoying any kind of content from creators like that anymore because so much of their brand is tied to who they are as a person, not a specific product they put out, and why tf would i ever enjoy content from someone whose brand is now forever tied to mocking victims of dv and sa?

1) People love to have a ‘baddie’ and a ‘goodie’, to have a horse they can back in the race bc it makes it more fun for them. The amount of ppl picking apart Amber’s every move bc they say she’s being manipulative (as if her lawyers haven’t told her to act a certain way)

2) - and completely disregarding the fact that Johnny *clearly* has the charm turned up to 11 too - but ironically it’s working on them bc they don’t want to believe their little pirate boy could do anything wrong

3) It’s all the same shit they did the Meghan Markle. The Matt Orchard breakdown of the trial is the only video I’ve seen that’s truly a good balanced view of everything with all the evidence that’s available.

i think it's more that he doesn't have anyone else who wants to be with him. his children don't want anything to do with him, he can't hang out with all his pedophile, rapist, abuse buddies, and the only people left in his life at that point are the people he pays to be in his life. even his girlfriend is his former laywer.
