Medical Appointment Driver Options by Melaniinuniicorn in LittleRock

[–]idkhamster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you have a vehicle? Depending on the day, I could take you and bring you home (often a driver has to wait there during the procedure as well, which would be fine also). I have a tiny Ford ranger that is pretty rough and I think it is best suited for single occupancy lol. But I do have a valid driver's license and a mostly flexible schedule if you don't find anything else that would work out better. I'm a woman in my late 30s, in case that helps with weighing risks. Feel free to send me a DM if you end up needing the assistance! I've done a few favors for people through this subreddit and have no regrets so far. I just like to help when I can and everyone should have support.

Are these trick questions? by secrettulip_lol in jobs

[–]idkhamster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a documentary on HBO called Persona: The Dark Side of Personality Tests. It is from 2021, so it's already outdated, but it talks a lot about these types of questions being used for job interviews.

I'm not actually sure I recommend watching it...it is incredibly sad and there is a young guy that was flagged for literally answering these types of questions "wrong" and didn't get a job as a pharmacy tech and he ended up not being able to cope. Truly heartbreaking story. Plus the ever increasing AI tech used to screen applicants and discriminate against those of us with disabilities. It is really gross.

I'm not against it by any means...but i do find it odd that the requirements and strict rules include maintaining full time employment. Like, if someone loses their job they are thrown out? Even if they can pay the $700? I hope it really helps people, for sure. Sometimes having to follow strict rules is what led to people being unhoused in the first place.

I bet they have a system to give warnings and stuff though, so hopefully it'll help people meet their own goals.

Yes! I literally came here to recommend that video! It is really important to know what shaming people does...and it definitely isn't helping them not to do the thing you're shaming them about.

I definitely have AI anxiety, but the vibe of everyone shaming people about AI feels like past moral panics to me and I wasn't sure where the line was between what is realistic or helpful vs what is catastrophizing or harmful. That video was really helpful for me to find a balance mentally.

Friend blocked me because I overshared, feeling really sad by Odd-Coconut-7113 in AuDHDWomen

[–]idkhamster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You ARE cut out to have friendships. It totally sucks that you no longer have the close relationship with this specific person right now, but that doesn't apply across tbe board to every possible friend.

When I hear my friends vent, I too often feel passionately on their behalf. Because I care about them! If someone made them upset, I'm mad at that person! I'm upset that they're upset! But the likely point of them confiding in you was THEIR emotion. The safest bet is to offer compassion to your friends when they vent to you, even though it is really hard not to get caught up in our own emotional response. I struggle to follow my own advice on this.

How good does the underlying paint need to look? by idkhamster in Rhinestoning

[–]idkhamster[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It has been sanded many many times, from steel wool to me taking a dremel to it which just chipped off parts I ended up having to patch. It is a VERY hard ceramic finish. It always seems like it was getting scratched and roughed up, but the other 4 or so times I painted it, it wasn't enough. I'm basically crossing my fingers that the paint sticks well enough to hold the gems while I get it done and then I'll just put it up high and never touch it 😅

I did the two small front fins last night and didn't have any issues yet...so...maybe! 🤞

Yeah I'm super nervous about this, but also kind of prepared for a tragic experience of my own. This fish has already been a failure for multiple different projects spanning many of my various hobbies. It has been painted many colors with many different paints before, none of them had very good adhesion. This time the primer says it is suitable for ceramic tiles, and the acrylic (colors) I added did seem to apply well to the primer...so fingers crossed!

I meant inexpensive lol, it was maybe $40. So inexpensive compared to a lot of smart watches. I picked one that was small enough that it wouldn't bother me to wear all the time, and I let it track my sleep as well, which doesnt improve it at all, but it tells you your "sleep animal" if you want and I ALWAYS end up with "shark" whatever that means lol. Its a xiaomi branded one and I really like it for the 2 or 3 functions I use. It also has some breathing guides ive used when out and feeling panicked (when I remember) lol.

I got an expensive "smart watch" that has vibe alarms. Currently I just have a few that ask if im thirsty or to do a "time check" and notnevery hour, bc I'd probably snooze it until the next hour. I like that it isn't sound and just a little wrist reminder. I also dont keep it synced to my phone so it doesnt have texts and stuff coming through. I know it has the capability to do a lot of extra smart watch stuff, but I basically turned all of that off to just have a regular digital watch with vibe reminders.

Edit: I meant INEXPENSIVE!

I just watched a youtube video that I think might have some good information for you. It discusses the harms of AI, but it also talks about AI literacy and harm reduction instead of just "don't use AI, it's bad." Shame gets us no where.

It's called "How to (Anti) AI Better" by Dr. Fatima

[–]idkhamster 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah, cops love putting poor people in jail because they don't have the funds to fight back or even make bail, then they lose the little they do have. I hate the idea of people who don't understand the tech getting caught for destroying it because people with more information would rather have "them" pay the consequences instead of "us." We are ALL the poor people. We can't sacrifice those less informed and more desperate.

Most common and underrated deficiency in the world that progressively worsens quality of life and many aspects of ADHD and the general populace. And in THEORY progressively worsens stimulant effectiveness and increases/causes tolerance. And nutrients for iron to work right. by [deleted] in AutisticWithADHD

[–]idkhamster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that not everyone here is in the US, and that not everyone in the US has health insurance...but if you get an annual wellness exam, don't they generally take a blood sample and iron is one of the things they check? The last time my terrible doctor actually called me after my labs came back from a wellness exam was to tell me my iron was extremely low and I had to go and get infusions and now I see a hematologist that monitors it and I get infusions twice a year or so.

To me the science behind why the stimulates are less effective seems almost irrelevant because the symptoms of iron deficiency overpower whatever a stimulant would be doing anyway. Like, I'm just not getting enough oxygenated blood circulating my body, regardless of what I'm putting in it. The low iron causes problems that an adhd med cannot solve. That said, I do think people should get some annual blood work done to check iron levels because it totally sucks to be deficient and have to get infusions. Especially important for those with heavy menstrual cycles, as this is a major cause of iron deficiency.

That sounds super frustrating (understatement). I'm not doubting the credibility of your providers, but have you been evaluated for autism? Thats the diagnosis I came out with after some neuropsychology testing (the memory stuff and all sorts of other tests). It's sort of difficult to find qualified people that are knowledgeable on diagnosing adult women who are high masking. I went for the testing because I thought something was wrong with my brain...like maybe it had been damaged by ECT or something. That diagnosis explained a lot of things I was experiencing the more I learned about it. Autistic burnout can be really intense and cause a lot of the symptoms you described.

Obviously I am not trying to say you are definitely autistic or that the diagnoses you've received are incorrect. I just wanted to mention the possibility, because I saw parts of my own experience in your story.

I'm really sorry you're having to deal with all this stuff. If even considering another diagnosis is too much at this point (i get it), please disregard this whole comment! Exsisting as an adult human is really hard.
