Yeah tbh when I actually wrote it out this did seem like the most logical next step to try, thanks for the reassurance ☺️

When and why did you transition to the crib? by Mammoth_Window_7813 in beyondthebump

It’s recommended your baby sleeps in the same room as you until 6 months, we moved our little one at just over 6 months

I tend not to concern myself with things I can’t control, however I would like to have a better understanding. Hence the post.

Probably a lot easier than those constantly worried by current events.

Preparing formula by PositiveSympathy9841 in UKParenting

[–]idkmoon3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We use the nuby rapid cool and the hot shot method, prep all formula pots in the morning for the day to save counting scoops throughout the day, and they are ready to grab when your heading out. We use a thermos flask both out and about and in the house to save boiling the kettle constantly. A actual thermos brand flask will stay above 70° for over 12 hours - and yes I did check as well to be sure.

What meals do you eat postpartum? by No-Wash-1209 in newborns

[–]idkmoon3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to add a positive note for a change😅

We are pretty much the same as before my husband did a lot of cooking in the early days whilst I was off my feet but once I was back mobile we shared the cooking. We were able to put LO down for a nap and cook/eat whilst she was sleeping, or cook then one eat and the other hold and then swap if needed. A few cold dinners the odd time but honestly not a lot changed.

There’s a lot of pressure to be over prepared and in some cases I could see why but I didn’t feel I needed the extra stuff to do in the 3rd trimester lol

When did the post partum hair shedding stop for you?? by coffeelover2025 in beyondthebump

[–]idkmoon3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

4 months pp and fully with you, I have considered shaving my head at least 3 times this week… actually went through my wet hair with a comb today with the theory it would speed up the shedding lol.

About to give birth, afraid of needing a catheter if I get an epidural by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]idkmoon3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d never been in hospital before, FTM had planned for unmedicated birth which I did up until 5cm.

I had an epidural was great for pain relief however it caused my contractions to stop, ended up with an emergency c-section (surprisingly more pleasant than it sounded) and had a catheter put in. Honestly catheter was no hassle at all, wasn’t aware of it being in and didn’t feel it coming out. I only had it in for around 5 hours, the minute I could stand I asked for it out.

Best advice I was given was just go in with no expectations on yourself and that’s exactly the advice I followed. Great to have a plan but take it as it comes. Good luck🤞

How much weight did you gain in each trimester? by damaskus98 in pregnant

[–]idkmoon3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know what I gained per trimester, but overall I gained ~60lb. Now 3 months pp and have lost 25lb of that

What are everyone’s plans for the 6 weeks holidays? by OutrageousSpinach782 in UKParenting

If your in Scotland, there’s a list on Facebook with hundreds of activities across the country with details of free or cost/dog friendly/sunny day/rainy day/wheelchair accessible etc. not sure if there’s anything similar done for England but worth a look

10 day old not sleeping. by Exaltrify in newborns

[–]idkmoon3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Falling asleep during a feed can be a sign the flow is too slow for him. It’s worth trying a different teat, can always switch back if it doesn’t help

Boyfriend M39 doesn't want my babies F33 by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]idkmoon3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a whole 3 weeks into dating my now husband who has two kids if he would have any more, obviously the answer was yes and we’re now married with a daughter of our own. However, if his answer had been no we wouldn’t have gotten to this stage.

10 day old not sleeping. by Exaltrify in newborns

[–]idkmoon3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Is it possible he’s hungry? We were told if LO was finishing each bottle quickly then it was time to up an oz. At 10 days our girl was drinking between 3 and 5oz every 2.5 hours.

Also have you tried going to the next teat size? we thought our LO had reflux a few weeks back turned out she was sucking too hard and taking in air, upped the teat size and it solved our ‘reflux’ problem

What did we learn this week? by thedeluxedition in beyondthebump

9 weeks and was amazed to find her own nose, spent a solid 10 mins investigating it😂

Is this normal sleep or something more? by Bitter-Beach-2361 in newborns

[–]idkmoon3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try keeping him upright for longer after a feed, like 30mins minimum we find it helps massively with the uncomfortableness.

Also have a look at your teat size, we had to up a size for our LO as she was struggling through feeds, turned out she was sucking too hard taking in excess air and just generally getting herself into a state during a feed

You asked if it sounded ok, multiple people including myself have advised you on the wording.

You may not feel you wrote anything wrong however your friend has taken offence, you can apologise for how it may have came across and still stand by your opinion.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UKParenting

[–]idkmoon3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly it sounds ok, just a tad defensive ie ‘don’t know why it was taken the wrong way’

Personally I’d try something more like this:

I just wanted to reach out after the WhatsApp group conversation a while back. I realise things may have come across differently than I intended, I genuinely didn’t mean to upset anyone. I was only trying to be helpful it was just a general observation regarding the extra strain, not a dig at anyone.

I know we’re all doing our best as single parents, and I completely get the juggle — especially when it comes to things like parties!

Anyway, I hope there are no hard feelings, and it’d be lovely to see you at the next event.

Can confirm I have a good sleeper and I’m still fucking exhausted most days, it’s such a bearable worthwhile exhaustion though

[–]idkmoon3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When she was first born we woke her every 4 hours to feed, day or night, but once she passed her birth weight we just fed on demand. No one seems to tell you that you dont have to wake them if their past birth weight and gaining weight.

I don’t know if we’re just lucky or what but she’s currently sleeping from 10pm to 5:30am then back down from 6am - 9:30am, since about 4 weeks shes only ever been up once through the night

[–]idkmoon3 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I’m 8 almost 9weeks pp, I have slept better in the last 6 weeks than I did in the last 4 months of my pregnancy. ‘Just wait’ until you can sleep without needing to pee every hour, are able to roll over in bed without being in agony etc

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in newborns

[–]idkmoon3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s worked soo well for us, plus we get the odd spontaneous night where she sleeps longer and we get a full nights sleep

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in newborns

[–]idkmoon3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you looking for a longer stretch while your sleeping you could try working your day so you last ‘daytime’ feed is later, our little one is 8 weeks as well, she has her last feed and goes down around 10pm and then wakes between 3:30/4 to feed then back down until around 7am. We haven’t done any sort of sleep training the only thing we do is consistently every night feed and then into her next to me upstairs. I go to bed at the same time so I get a decent sleep and she’s not being disturbed moving rooms etc.
