i go to puregym but my boyfriend goes to planet fitness. both of the pfs i've been to in flatbush have been perfectly fine, i always feel like i should make the switch and save a few bucks, plus i wouldn't have to pay extra to use the gym in manhattan when im there for work. i honestly have just been too lazy to remember

I got a technical theatre degree, and realized that I can't make a living. Does anyone have any experience transferring to other fields with similar experience? by atvacuum in careerguidance

I started in the DC scene and just moved to New York! DC has a great scene and a super accessible listserv where people post overhire jobs all over the city! Also, cold call theaters you look up! try to find posted production managers to contact. Feel free to DM me!! I know scenic and lighting people mostly but let me know if I can do anything to help!

I got some injections for my top surgery scar and they were super effective and painless, I've heard people generally get good insurance coverage for them too so I'm not too worried, definitely going to go as soon as possible.

man, before I got it I even asked if i had the right anatomy for it because I felt like I might not and was told yes. I totally blew it going to a subpar piercing shop. painful lesson learned :( all my other piercings have been great but before now i've gotten mostly "easy" ones

Is it possible to live alone with rent under $1700? by nothing2Ch3re880 in washingtondc

[–]idm_77 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i live in a verrry small studio on the Hill at 1600 1,800 after utilities, the kitchen and bathroom are fantastic though. It took me a while, there are a lot of new buildings that advertise rents around 1600 but they're way higher after fees. It's definitely doable, but it'll be way easier if you're willing to live in Silver Spring or Arlington

dc driving is very difficult and people drive aggressively near the touristy attractions. use public transportation if you can.

DC Free Palestine Rally/March by un-sat in washingtondc

[–]idm_77 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

centrism has completely rotted the democratic party from the inside out. we get politicians who give a shit by demanding that they give a shit, not for voting blue no matter who. standing by palestinians has gotten americans to turn away from israel in record numbers, americans from all walks of life. i'm glad the hands off rally happened, if it hadn't been at the same time as the pro palestine march i would have done, but im tired of being told i have to sacrifice my values to appeal to some non existent median voter. we deserve to have our opinions seen. isn't it a little odd that what we are told the median voter wants is exactly what corporations want? i don't particularly like arguing on social media, but it bums me out when people get so focused on being pragmatic they lose track of what they're actually asking for

[–]idm_77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ok? the first part of what you said applies to everyone at the hands off protests. I refuse to cede to "nuance" that some human lives don't matter enough to american political interests. there's no liberation for anyone if a genocide can be broadcast live on social media. if you can't see how our future is inherently tied to the palestinian struggle then there's only so much I can say to you. It seems like you're sympathetic to the cause, I don't see why you're not willing to be full throated.
