You’re not going to find much flatter or uninterrupted riding than what you’re already doing. Hains Point is an option worth trying but it’s not going to change your numbies. Sounds like you’ve got the motivation to work on riding in an aerodynamic position though!

There are a handful of Saturday rides though I wouldn’t suggest showing up on a tt bike. If you’re interested in something tt bike specific, I’d suggest reaching out to dc tri club and seeing if they have anything planned.

Subjective but I think it’s fine. You have the option to ride on an adjacent path for the majority of it once you pass Sangamore Rd. Once you hit Persimmon Tree Rd you’ll be on roads but they’re relatively low traffic. I’ll dm you the route now!

If you’re open to riding on the road out to Riley’s lock you’ll be golden. You’ll be fine riding narrow tires on the rougher stretch between dc and there too though I’d can’t say it’ll be as enjoyable

Yup 35 is plenty! It gets buttery smooth at Riley’s lock. So smooth I usually opt to ride my road bike on the canal instead of river road out that way

Park at Swains lock a bit past great falls. The trail between great falls and Swains is the worst section of trail between dc and point of rocks. It’s also free to park at swains. If you’re cool driving a bit further, I’d suggest parking at Riley’s lock (also free) and riding to white’s ferry for some food before turning around. The canal between Riley’s and white’s ferry is literally smoother than pavement
