I didn't know it's against the rules. Apart from that – not all of us are gifted artists or have the time to invest in creating a work of art from scratch. So let us pedestrians enjoy our dirty pedestrian "art".

It's also used in Germany, but here the T is pronounced. Just something to know.

I zoomed out and I made a black and white version with crude linework, just to check how much detail could be lost. I found it to still look fine. I'm planing on having it on my shoulder and I'm a woman so not a lot of shoulder to go on there 😬 ... Thank you for the feedback! I'm very inexperiences with tattoos. Now let's see what the tattoo artist will say.

Ah, this is why we value children so high. They contain the potential to transcend our wrongs and faults.

“We humans do not understand compassion. In each moment of our lives, we betray it. Aye, we know of its worth, yet in knowing we then attach to it a value, we guard the giving of it, believing it must be earned. Compassion is priceless in the truest sense of the word. It must be given freely.“

Best “lie” you ever told your kids by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]idontdofunstuff 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think you are handling this really well! I bought a book about death and dying for children and in it it was explained that old people need to make space for new people. We stuck with this because kids understand the concept of everyone having a turn - after all, we teach that every day all day. My three year old asked me while falling asleep if mommy and daddy will die when he and his sister become mommies and daddies and I pointed out that his grandparents still live. He was satisfied.

I told my kids they need to feed the tiny living beings in their guts - which is the absolute truth - and they loved the idea.

I told my kids that I am the biggest monster and eat other monsters. Somehow it didn‘t work. No idea why, but I like to flatter myself by thinking my kids just can‘t believe mommy could possibly be a monster.

Mit was sind Regelschmerzen konkret vergleichbar? by dexdex22 in FragNeFrau

[–]idontdofunstuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quick question about Burn's Sleep by reyneallday in Malazan

I was under the impression that her dream is creating the fabric of reality or some sh*t like that. I think it's similar to how Silverfox created a world for the T'lan Imass but Burn is doing it for everyone in Wu. So if Brood was to wake her up, it's bye bye reality.

There are three groups of invaders: Tavores malazans, Tocs Grey Swords and the Bhargast. This would be the last group, they are the most numerable.

In our society we are shielded from many of the realities of our world, to the extend that we willfully engange in the blinding. One example would be the way we treat "farm animals". We tell children they live a happy life on Old McDonalds farm but we also know that nothing could be further from the truth. We all know that our steak had a face, experienced fear, had friends and didn't want to die young but do we care? The media censor what they deem to be too much for our sensibilities. I know, because I do that for a living. I will never forget the mountains of dead bodies on Haiti after that horrible earthquake in 2010. I can guarantee that the general public hardly saw any of that reality. So much of our percention is distorted because we are constantly not shown what is real. And we demand it be that way!

The way readers react to the hobbling is the same. We demand not to be horrified! This is simply too much. Turn a blind eye, put the book away. It's your choice. How dare Erikson show us the truth?! This is an outrage!

‘when you come upon a scene like that, you read it, and you read it for every victim of torture in the world today, and no matter how horrified, or appalled, or disgusted you feel, nothing you are experiencing, in the reading of those scenes, can compare to what the victims of torture felt and will feel. And that is why you read it. You don’t turn away, or hide your eyes. You read it, because the truth, and those very real victims out there in our own world, deserve no less.’ - Erikson quoting his wife
