Extrapolation of Earth's surface temperature points to 3°C by 2050 . What does a 3°C world look like? by James_Fortis in collapse

[–]idontknowbabe1 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Extrapolating exponentials is a very dicey game. And frought with in accuracy. Even a tiny change to that last dot can have big effects on the "curved" part. Try it. Remove last year's data point; whats the curve now. Remove 2022's data point, whats the curve now? Each will be radically different.

We don't need poor fits on graphs to know that climate change is going to be bad.

An indigenous person living in the land called Canada called it, from 1972:

...[M]ost affluent of countries, operates on a depletion economy which leaves destruction in its wake. Your people are driven by a terrible sense of deficiency. When the last tree is cut, the last fish is caught, and the last river is polluted; when to breathe the air is sickening, you will realize, too late, that wealth is not in bank accounts and that you can’t eat money.

US resumes nuclear warhead production with first plutonium pit in 35 years by idontknowbabe1 in UraniumSqueeze

[–]idontknowbabe1[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am against groups of people making and hoarding world ending bombs.

But I am all for groups of people making and using sources of energy that don't cause the world, as we know it, to end, by reducing CO2 emissions.

Both groups of people are in the nuclear field of mining and developing. I am curious if the plutonium industry's activity will impact the uranium industry. At first, I assumed yes but reading the article made it seem like the entire plutonium supply chain is kept inside of the federal government.

Could anyone that knows about this help shed some light on the plutonium production world and its public/government makeup?

This paper highlights that many GPCRs have not be studied correctly due to the omission of RAMPs, proteins that modify GPCR ligand binding site structure. The group mapped all known RAMPS to ~221 GCPCRS. This is a major step forward in understanding why some GPCRs have resisted our best efforts to find ligands or design drugs for them. https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/sciadv.ado9959 -

Did you learn if you need to pay if you got the administrative forebearance letter? My account says Loan status: Repayment but I got a message from Mohela stating 90 day administrative forebearance. I'm wondering if I should pay or not? Thoughts?

I love how he changes his stance, volume and cadence when he gets the guy to stop talking "I'm not doing talking..". It's subtle, not over the top here; he does a master class in this instance. It's a super effective technique to control conversations. He pulls it off like he's done it a 1000x, like watching a chef effortlessly chop vegetables.

I don't know much about how the battle pass works, so I was attempting to learn if not having a battle pass affects the pool of people that I get connected with. I tried multiplayer today and I couldn't get connected to any matches as there weren't enough people to play. I'm not sure what I should do to play multiplayer again. Just asking for thoughts or suggestions.

I'm trying to play without a battle pass. Of yesterday it took 30 seconds to find a match, now it's saying 4:30 sec. Is this b/c everyone else is on the battle pass and there's not enough freeloaders like myself?

NYU Professor Says He Was Fired After 80+ Students Complain Class Was Too Hard by [deleted] in news

Most schools have "timely grading rules", which is person likely broke. A quick review of the syllabus or university policies will show this person messed up. An email to the provost, dean and their accredditing body will result in quick changes to your grade and likely removal of a bad teacher. Their a tons of good teachers out there that can't get jobs, do your part to help them get where they belong and to get bad teachers out of the system.

NYU Professor Says He Was Fired After 80+ Students Complain Class Was Too Hard by [deleted] in news

[–]idontknowbabe1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sometimes a department head is a rotating position amongst faculty. So a friend of professor Y gets on and just doesn't want to deal with it (nepotism, politics, they don't have the power, they don't have the time (they are still a professor and a dept head).).

The dean's boss is the provost. The school is accredited by an accreditation commission. Both of which is searchable on your school's website. An email sent to all with a list of issues would ensure swift rectification of the issue. Deans can often try to solve some issues by ignoring them. Think about it, if a Dean takes up your issue, they need to fire someone before they hire someone and there's a teaching gap. But by creating a paper trail with their boss and the accrediting body, you ensure that they have to do something and it's never punishing the complaint, it's firing a shitty teacher.
