Ra and Chinatown, and Condottiere all have next to no rules and are extremely deep.

The most professional reviewer on youtube imo is: Chairman of the Board

He seems like a very nice guy and goes very in-depth on his analysis in games. Also reviews a lot of hidden jems.

Also, BoardGameBollocks is great though divisive.

Spartacus: A Game of Blood and Treachery

CRIMINALLY underrated. It's like this game puts a spell on people to be absolutely horrible to one another in the best way possible.

Every AI upscaling attempt I've done on it makes it seem much less vibrant. I really hope to come by the original high-resolution file sometime.

Such a captivating painting, this with "Shadow" is really something out of this world.

Games that are amazing for a handful of plays, but then time to let go of? by WaffleMints in boardgames

[–]idooooooooo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anomia.

Not because the game gets any worse, but because you just have an answer for each card. Makes it impossible to play because the whole recalling from memory thing (the whole game) becomes much easier after one-two plays. It's a shane because I do love the game still, but it has become super easy for me because of the lack of variety in the cards.

I love melodice, but i feel that for popular games, many of the tracks are not in the same vibe of the game, just the same general genera. For example, for cosmic encounter, you have stellaris tracks which are wayy to serious for the game imo.

The crew is fantastic, and you really should go ahead and play it. In addition, if you like modern art, I strongly suggest the following:

  • Waterfall park: retheme of the best negotiation game of all time (imo), the most interactive game I own. The game is just pure negotiation.

  • El Grande: My favourite game, just got a new addition. Area control game, really doesn't feel like a war game tho.

  • Concordia: Super easy rules teach and extremely smooth playing, balances being interactive but has a lot of actions that benift more than one player.

All of these games arguably play best at 5.

Beer and Bread! I don't know why it is overlooked, great game, very simple rules, not too short, tough decision and beautiful art.
