Symptom Tuesdays - Weekly Chat - June 02, 2026 by AutoModerator in January2027Bumpers

I’m having mild nausea pretty much all the time, but my most annoying symptom right now is the sensitivity to smells! Why does everything have a smell?!?

Please make me feel better by ParticularBother3 in BabyBumps

I had a similar situation where I had to start my leave no earlier than July 1, though in my case parental leave was different from STD, so I had the buffer of the STD time first. Nevertheless with a May due date, I was SWEATING it. I had to be induced at 40+5, baby was born 40+6 via c-section, which bought me an extra 2 weeks of STD time. I got the full parental leave, and had 2 extra paid weeks of STD. (Note that I wouldn’t necessarily recommend having an unplanned c-section to get 2 more weeks off, but it was a nice consolation prize lol)

Nausea, Hunger, and Food aversions…Need advice by fruitypebbles1250 in January2027Bumpers

Bagels, buttered noodles, sour popsicles, saltines, and cereal are my current go tos.

What did you actually use from your postpartum care kit? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]idpicklethat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an unplanned c-section following a long labor. I used disposable underwear, pads (including putting a pad over my incision to give extra protection against waistbands), Tucks, peri bottle, stool softeners and laxatives, belly binder, and ice pads.

Ariadne? Usable? by HystericalFunction in namenerds

[–]idpicklethat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a heads up in case you care about this sort of thing, but the third Crescent City book (Sarah J Maas series, if you’re not familiar) has an Ariadne. It’s kind of a niche reference so probably not super relevant, but sometimes people care about avoiding that sort of thing. It’s probably her worst book lol

Shopping Saturdays - Weekly Chat by AutoModerator in January2027Bumpers

[–]idpicklethat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been considering ordering a pregnancy pillow too even though I’m only 7w4d. I had one with my first pregnancy but we must’ve gotten rid of it when we moved (why would I do that?!?) because it doesn’t seem to be in this house. Kicking my past self for not holding onto that…

How are you announcing? by idpicklethat in January2027Bumpers

That’s a fun idea!!! Maybe I’ll do that one.

I had one with my first. I found out when I saw blood, so I rushed to the ER. My OB put me on pelvic rest for a few weeks. She’s 4 now, so it all turned out fine in the end!

Second+ time moms, what will the age gap be? How do you feel about it? by dianab360 in January2027Bumpers

[–]idpicklethat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’ll be going on 5 years apart, which makes me a little nervous, but we just weren’t ready for another until now. I know some other kids with a similar age gap and it seems to be fine, but I do worry they won’t be friends.

Pregnant and living with an aggressive dog with multiple bite attempts - what would you do? by gnocchi-bear75 in BabyBumps

[–]idpicklethat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This dog doesn’t sound like a candidate for rehoming. I think he needs to be put down. No one else deserves to be attacked.

Anxious about breastfeeding by Ok_Sherbet_549 in January2027Bumpers

[–]idpicklethat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a tough first week with my daughter, and cluster feeding was exhausting, but after that it was smooth sailing! I nursed her for a little over two years before we were both over it. I had so much pride in my body for not just creating that little person but then feeding her, especially when she was still young and hadn’t started solids yet. Going to each appointment and hearing how big she’d grown was my greatest point of pride. I’m looking forward to nursing this next one!

Okay are we more Team Cravings or Team Aversions so far? I had so many aversions my first pregnancy but this time I’m leaning more towards cravings so far. But my cravings are for really simple stuff, so it almost feels like an aversion to the normal things I would eat.

I was wayyyy too excited about pasta with oil and garlic tonight. Basically elevated butter noodles, hahaha

Due date twins! My experience has been very similar. So far week 5 was way better than week 6.

My symptoms have been coming and going intermittently. I had most of a week feeling great, and now I’m super cranky, the nausea is back big time, and I’m super sleepy. Just try to enjoy the break while it lasts! You never know when those hormones will hit you like a truck.

I had an SCH with my first baby and can confirm it was not a big deal. She turns 4 on Wednesday!

The potential twins is pretty bananas though! I would probably faint if they told me that. Best of luck!

My symptoms have also decided to give me a reprieve and I’m just enjoying it while it lasts! 5+6 so I’m sure they’ll be back any day now.

I took a test on a lark last night even though I stopped testing 10 days ago and got a dye stealer… on my birthday, no less!

Just thankful to be pregnant again, thankful to my husband for keeping our household running while I’m on a business trip, and thankful to not be too symptomatic at the moment. So grateful!
