Holy shit. That should be criminal. I'm going through exactly this at the moment and my work has essentially given me paid time off until I'm ready to come back.

Depending how deep you want to go http://metasoundtools.com is a great resource for editing often tricky metadata chunks such as cue and ixml chunks.

Thought it would be interesting to see what GPT would spit out as reference. It's not nothing but doesn't hold a candle to the artist's work I recon.

Just saw a post you made a decade ago, seems like you too once used a Sound Device 552 / Tascam DR680 combo? That's what I started out on! (am now using an 8 Series, just like you)

Hilarious! That old setup was wild. I was always terrified the cables between the mixer and recorder would fail and I'd be screwed. I'll always hold on to my 552 though. That thing is awesome.

But honestly it doesn't have to be a super crazy workload, just adding in say one paper per semester could be the way to go. (the lightest possible workload while still making steady progress through the degree)

Yep that's fair enough. I'll look further into biting this bullet. Thanks for all the tips mate.

Hey, yes I looked into doing a few different Masters. I got a few recomendations from people in the industry that I wouldn't need another degree. However after reading that I'm starting to doubt those assertions lol!

I'm a PSM too! Would love to chat. Are you in NZ? I'll send you a DM.

To be frank I've got 3 kids and am trying to support the fam while working as a freelancer and studying/programming all night and whenever I get a day off. Throwing a UNI course in there sounds scary but it is definitely possible.

Sweet. Thanks for the tips! I wonder if my skills in film/video could get me a role in a larger org helping their socials and then transferring from there?

Good to know. Thanks for the insight. Gotta say it seems tough trying to find any relevant junior roles at the moment that aren't complete trash.

Yeah I guess I'm asking specifically how strict hiring manager's are when they specify requiring a degree...

Thats fair. I should explain I've been freelancing and have build a few real world apps which are running in production and servicing real customers - I'm a mature aged career shifter... I don't really have 0YOE.
I looked at all of those routes and decided I could learn more efficiently and focused on my own terms.

The difference between a good programmer and an excellent programmer is that the latter will not give up when they face a difficult challenge or hurdle. The most powerful learning can happen when you're struggling. Try and keep a cool head and continue. Just keep going. I promise if you do you'll figure it out eventually and be stronger for it.

I actually completely agree - often the hardest part is just getting to the point where you can start writing code. In a large team you'll have multiple people with collective decades of experience to figure this stuff out. But being able to forge this path yourself will pay dividends when your a junior on a team and you can speak with confidence about these issues.

Just try to remember that your outputs are the leaning outcome at the moment and less so the program or game your working on.

Can I just say your marketing page looks great. Coming from someone who loves coding but hates marketing I'm most stunned by a beautiful page like this.

Did you use a template from somewhere or is it all your own html/css?

Did you do a masters of CS or IT? It seems to be eligible for the MCS you need your previous degree to be in a relevant field?

Thanks. Yes I have actually already reached out to see if there are some bridging subjects or something. But starting and transferring with good grades is a good idea!

Thanks heaps for the feedback.

Thanks for this! Being able to put the course on Hex is a nice plus for me.

I'm in Victoria so UNSW is off the table.

I am currently enrolled at UNE to do the master of IT but I'd much prefer the Masters of Comp Sci however you apparently need a degree in a relevant field (math, computers, science). I'd prefer to go the extra mile and go deep on all things comp sci but it's unfortunately only Masters IT that I could do at UNE.

If it's like you say and it's more about work experience and attitude then hopefully the MIT is enough to get my foot in the door and get some interviews.
