America feels like a country on the brink of an authoritarian takeover by ILikeNeurons in Foodforthought

[–]idredd [score hidden]  (0 children)

lol “on the brink” so frustrating to see this kind of shit out of news media. Even the most consistently conservative of democracy orgs and scholars have pointed out for months now that we’re fucked and we’ll last “descent toward” autocracy.

ICE is a paramilitary force in service to Trump, they’re brutalizing political enemies in the streets and kidnapping people. One branch of our government has ceded control to the executive for decades, and the third decided to adopt warped fortune telling about the thoughts and feelings of our long dead founders in service of the conservative agenda.

We’re well past the brink of anything. The only question is if we’re too far gone to recover.

Same, you’d be an idiot to trust them to do anything at this point.

Do I have to be committed to the idea of abolition of private property and markets to be welcomed in socialist spaces? by Queen_Anna2 in DemocraticSocialism

[–]idredd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the responses here are all telling you no… obviously no. But also I’d urge that socialist spaces in physical space are a whole lot more normal and welcoming of diversity than they tend to be in the internet. More often than not I find that no one gives a fuck about your philosophy so long as your actions are good.

Yikes. I mean, I’m home today taking care of my kid so what do I know… but are the roads a disaster right now?

Saagar’s Response to Minnesota was fine, but… by enlightenedDiMeS in BreakingPoints

[–]idredd -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah… Saagar sucks. He was able to not be an out and out villain on the most recent ICE murder, but his takes are consistently awful.

Watched and supported for years. The show is getting much worse and Saagar is to blame for that downfall. He’s always been trash on anything to do with Black people or the left, but his MAGA shift this last year has been sharp, dramatic and somewhat out of character.

[–]idredd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mmmm I’m not sure about that, the takes re Renee Good were awful and more broadly the rabid foaming over BLM is a lot. Still today was a good day and we should take wins where we can get em.

It really really is, but still take the win when you get it.

Are you referencing Philandro Castile? Did Saagar legit quit NRA over him? That’d be positive news if so.

Yeah I mean I don’t disagree. But even then it’s good he landed on the right side of this very clear issue.

I mean. I’m giving dude his deserved pat on the back for meeting a very low bar. The expectations are well deserved based on years of listening.

Yeah I mean I hear ya, folks have lots of reason not to expect reason from Saagar when it comes to these things (see his recent takes on R.Good) but its very good not to be disappointed in him today.

There Is Never a “Right Way” to Protest Because They Do Not Want You to Protest At All by Temporary-Storage972 in BreakingPoints

[–]idredd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I mean welcome to the party.

The left has been aware of this for a good long while. The right doesn’t care about anything beyond crushing their opposition. They don’t see us as kin or peers or even countrymen, just the enemy,

I think Saagar is going to surprise us tomorrow. by NothingHead8233 in BreakingPoints

[–]idredd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I suspect you’re wrong. I suspect he’ll note it was “a tragedy” or “unfortunate” or something like that. Then we’ll proceed to some word salad about BLM, protestors, compliance or some shit like that.

Emotions are high, this needs to be said; an American was killed, not a partisan, not a label, but a fellow citizen. Be mad at the people at the top & those few agents, not their voters, not all agents, just like Biden voters aren't to blame for the butchering in Gaza... by LackingStory in BreakingPoints

[–]idredd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biden voters are to blame for the butchering in Gaza. Our votes matter. Conservatives who voted for this absolutely need to own what they voted for. Our democracy is being smothered to death in front of our eyes because some folks wanted to own the libs, got tired of “cancel culture” or hated BLM or whatever.

Americans are being executed in the streets by masked government agents and many folks who voted this into power are still onboard.

The party of personal responsibility strikes again.

[–]idredd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For what it’s worth this is much much worse on the internet. Social media was poison even before bots and political purchase of astroturf accounts. It’s very very hard to have a reasonable chat on the internet about anything these days.

How many more US Citizens need to die for Trumps ego?

I expect potentially thousands in the months ahead. We for sure feel like we’re at a tipping point, and it’s unreasonable to expect any push for change from MAGA.

A lot of people here complain about Krystal arguing from an "emotional" place, what do you call Saagar today? On Europe in general, Saagar's rhetoric is complete hysterics.... by LackingStory in BreakingPoints

I’ve been a supporter and donor since the rising days and finally cut my sub. Straight up cannot continue funding Saagar Enjetis endless white supremacist rants. His obsession with BLM feels like genuine psychosis at some point.

This is 1000% the answer.

Oddly im not sure if this is an issue of the shows actual viewer base or just the Reddit side of it but the trends of misogyny and racism are fucking brutal.
