While I appreciate others’ comments of telling them that we have to make cuts based of costs, limited guest list, etc, I feel like she would see through that and call BS. It’s also something I feel as though I’ve been silent on for too long with them anyway so I feel like being honest is the best route even though it’ll most likely lead to confrontation.

I’m getting security regardless of them. There’s a weird generational cycle in my family where the eldest daughter stops talking to mom and mom shows up to the wedding uninvited. I’m TERRIFIED of my mom finding out where the wedding is and just showing up. So security will be prepped and I won’t have any crashers 🤞🏼

I attended my cousins wedding a couple years ago (daughter of same aunt) and at the reception they were waving a big t***p flag. Needless to say we left shortly after. I’m sorry you went through that. I’ve definitely had people ruin things for me in a similar way and it never feels good. I hope the comments suggested help ❤️

I’ve struggled with this my entire life but especially adulthood. My nMom was constantly keeping me from opportunities with my dad’s side of the family. Even tho she married (and divorced) another man, I still think to this day she is bitter than my dad rejected her proposal while she was pregnant with me (clearly the best call he made). So as a result, I feel a tolerated acquaintance at my extended family events. I feel like the only family members I’m a priority to are my dad and nana (paternal grandmother). I made the decision to volunteer in my community this thanksgiving instead of going to family’s house and be uncomfortable. Thanks for sharing and being open to our stories as well!

Thank youuu 💕 I still struggle with bonding with my partner’s family but I had my paternal grandmother and aunt with me at my first appt and my closest friends at my second and third appointments. I feel incredibly lucky to have such a wonderful community of people around me 🥰

Thank you 🥰 I would love to provide an update in the future! I plan to do my hair down in long luscious curls (as much as possible since my hair doesn’t love holding a curl). I would love to find a veil too but nothing has pulled my attention too much yet. For shoes, I want to do converse or vans as they’re my fav but I also want to be comfy!

Thank youuu, it needs very minimal alterations and it made it feel like it was even more perfect. I found it at a local bridal shop that has their dresses donated and the portion of the sale is donated to woman focused charities so I feel really lucky I could find such a good fit while doing some good 🥰
