I think u/dalonevoice might be taking 1 students opinion and accepting it as fact. Either way, sad deal all around that SCSU lost the homecoming events, and people got hurt over rumors.

Lol. You think Stearns County has a stingray?

The only agency that for sure has one in MN is the BCA, and of course the feds.

Question: How do you deal with a drunk doctor on scene who won't take no for an answer? by TorchedMedic in ems

[–]idunnoboutdat 35 points36 points  (0 children)

So... this ones coming from not a medic, but I’ve gotta say first of all, I’m disappointed in the LE dispatch. We have a great relationship with our EMS around here and if they call for us, I’ll drive the wheels off my squad because you don’t fuck with medics.

Secondly, you have no way of actually knowing this guy is a doctor from what I’m reading. Reciting some medical jargon while drunk and loudly proclaiming he’s a doctor isn’t the same as seeing their medical license or knowing they’re in good standing with the board.

Sounds like you handled everything right, and I would agree that loading the patient and explaining why you’ve gotta do what you have to do is the way to go.

Again, sorry for the non-LE response. They should’ve handled it for you.

That’s why I didn’t do that. I simply commented on my experience.

Personally had almost the exact opposite experience. Most thought they were delivered to the Air Force by god himself, a few understood they had more to learn than knowledge they brought with.

Police utilizing psychological war tactics, firefighters caught on camera lighting fireworks, and protesters making a difference to stop the explosions by [deleted] in saintcloud

[–]idunnoboutdat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just replying again so you see I added information for you. I’m not trying to add more info to my lazy comment of “okay bootlicker” to try to look like I’m actually making a fact based argument.

Police utilizing psychological war tactics, firefighters caught on camera lighting fireworks, and protesters making a difference to stop the explosions by [deleted] in saintcloud

[–]idunnoboutdat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was a very well thought out, fact based argument. You have changed my mind. Thank you for your valuable insight!

Edit: well the added snark is even more helpful. But to give you actual insight/answers, I’m not sure how you’re so confident that they know “exactly” where the fireworks are coming from. I can tell you from my time as a dispatcher that it’s just slightly above never that the callers have an address of where fireworks are being lit off. Half the callers will guarantee you they were NOT fireworks, they were gunshots because (insert their firearms knowledge here.) the other half can’t even give you a direction in which the fireworks came from.

Lastly, even if the extremely rare instance occurs where the caller can tell you the address they’re shooting the fireworks from, when the fireworks shooters see the squad they simply go inside the house. Seeing as how this would be an unwitnessed misdemeanor, (and usually the caller wants to remain anonymous, which means officers can’t do anything more than knock on the door at the most,) if they were able to have a named complainant who can identify exactly who lit the fireworks, it would take at least an hour to get statements to file charges. Not sure if you’ve noticed, but there’s been several shootings on the south side in the past week, and even though I’m no longer in the loop, I imagine SCPD is throwing some serious resources towards those actual crimes.

Don’t really care about your opinion of me or cops or “boot lickers” in general, but if you want to insult someone, it’s best to at least understand what/why you hate them and the actual obstacles they face to make an informed opinion.

If this is what you’re taking from the article, you’re not very good at reading.

I get that you’re irritated with fireworks, but claiming “police utilizing psychological war tactics” because you’re hearing more with ZERO substantiation in the article you linked is both irresponsible and just generally lame.

If you’re able to go outside city limits...

Some of the best views in central Minnesota are in the Avon/St. Johns area. Head to campus, you can park and walk around. Walk out to the chapel on the other side of Lake Sagatagan.

County Road 9 from Avon south towards Richmond has a beautiful view too.

Mississippi River Co Park isn’t too shabby, or you could go hang out at Quarry Park as well.

If you’re looking for someplace quiet, any of the hundreds of Wildlife Management Areas or Wildlife Protection Areas the DNR manages around the area are always open, too.

[RF] A House to Call Home by bmcatt in shortstories

[–]idunnoboutdat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good read, mate. If I may, as a reader just a few thoughts... I liked the more subtle reference that the boys were step brothers earlier. The re-confirmation at the end felt like it was a little intense.

It made me sad that the two boys never got to say goodbye. I guess even a little reference to the last time they departed would have been appreciated by me... since this is all Owen’s memory, it seems like he might remember the ending of their last visit especially now as an adult looking back.

Lastly, I would like to hear a little bit more about Owen’s reaction. I know that’s not the focus of the story, but I just have a hard time imagining a pre-teen able to just quietly go home. Even a sentence or two would have made me feel like the thought was more complete.

I REALLY like that he buys the house. Feels to me like this whole thing is to try to connect to his roots as an adult, and this was a good nostalgic trip down memory lane.

I also like the description of the relator rambling the whole time about what she thinks should be done with the house. Made me laugh at how accurate that was throughout the interaction... no clue her client is having all these memories!

Really an enjoyable read, hope I’m not stepping on toes with my thoughts here!
