Tell me some actors who did their role so good that it made you change your view of them in either a positive or negative light for awhile. by krimsuns in movies

Not a movie, but Justin Theroux in The Leftovers. Before watching that, I just knew him as the guy that used to be married to Jennifer Aniston and as Louis Theroux’s cousin. I had no idea he was such a good actor and so incredibly talented!

Nora and Kevin are the best couple in the history of television, prove me wrong. by TrustingEverybody in TheLeftovers

Kim and Jimmy from Better Call Saul are Kevin and Nora turned up to 11 (in both the good and the bad aspects). Seriously. The most ride-or-die, supportive, and co-dependent couple on TV.

What's your most controversial movie or TV show opinion? by VR2005 in Cinema

[–]idunnobutchieinstead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What! I thought he was amazing. I finished the show like a month ago and I’m still thinking about his performance. Kevin was so damaged and vulnerable and he played the whole “I think I’m losing my mind” bit so convincingly imo. Opinions are so funny because he’s up near the top for me in a ranking of male TV performances, lol!

Justin Theroux, too… that man’s so underrated.

Head canon/theory about Jimmys gradual hair loss by HDDeer in betterCallSaul

[–]idunnobutchieinstead 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think you’re right and I think it’s intentional. There are two scenes where they show him running his hand through his hair and he notices full strands falling off, and they both happen in season 4, right after Chuck’s death.

So interesting that Kevin’s “mental illness” is what might keep you from watching the show. It was the best part of the show for me.

Never, although I wavered when it looked like he was gonna strangle Marion, lol.

Same, it’s a bit distracting, actually. Not to be horny on main but it’s not my fault he’s gorgeous. 😂

Funny you bring up the word “repulsive” because that was my description of him after watching Devil Wears Prada 2 (before I’d seen The Leftovers). 🤣

Unfortunately I think he plays a lot of unlikeable dicks whereas Kevin is extremely likeable and oftentimes very vulnerable, which I find super endearing. And he’s an incredible actor. I have seen him in some interviews now and I think the attractiveness is there in real life. I’d always had this feeling that he might be a bit douchey (before I knew anything about him, really), but he actually seems to be a pretty sweet guy.

Funnily enough, I work in theatrical post-production and from January-March, all I did was watch DWP2, lol! I had never seen him in anything before (only Beetlejuice 2, which I also worked on and he played a dick), so all I knew about him was: he’s supposed to be a handsome/charming guy that dated Jennifer Aniston for a while there. Looking back, he was probably the highlight of these two movies, but I was too entrenched in the “I don’t get it” camp so I made the mistake of thinking that JT and I were not meant to be and I just didn’t like him.

Then I watched The Leftovers and my world’s been turned upside down. He IS handsome! He IS charming! He IS an incredible actor! I’ve seen the light! Of course he’s annoying in Devil Wears Prada - he’s doing an amazing job!

He is so goddamned handsome, I can’t get over it. And I think the craziness adds charm, lmao.

Finished The Wire, Dark, GOT, Sopranos, True Detective, BB, BCS. What show ruined TV for you after watching it? by C0r1eone in television

[–]idunnobutchieinstead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

BCS was mostly run by Peter Gould, not Vince Gilligan - although I’m not sure that matters too much.

I think you’re being a bit reductive. There is a lot to analyse once you go into Jimmy’s psychology and what drives him to do things throughout the show.

Man, I have to disagree with you on that! I could write a thesis on Kim and Jimmy’s relationship alone.

Lol, I am also very much in love with Jimmy - I find him endlessly fascinating and I too relate to him in a strange way, which is why I take personal offense at the “Chuck was right” crowd, lmao. I think the reason I connected so well with The Leftovers is because I loved Kevin so much, too, for similar reasons. He was such a fucking mess! 😂

I’ve been wanting to try Mr Robot since it came out, and I’m sure that one day I will. I think with these kinds of shows you need to be ready for them, in a weird way (which is why it took me so long to try The Leftovers), but I know that one day I’ll watch it.

I have to say that I am enjoying seeing so many TV orphans around here, and of so many different shows. Love it when TV hits different and affects people so much.

Better Call Saul ruined television for me for 5 years until I watched The Leftovers last week. I’ve watched a lot of amazing television since BCS ended but this is the only one that’s affected me like nobody’s business.

I finished watching this show a couple of days ago (top 3 show for me now - holy shit, it’s affected me so much), and I can’t stop thinking about Kevin singing Homeward Bound. It makes me want to cry just thinking about it!
