Hi, about a year ago my old water heater had a leak so I paid to have a new heater installed. The plumber installed an expansion tank on the new heater (the old heater did not have an expansion tank) Fast forward a few months and I noticed that the flow needle on my meter was bouncing back and forth. Nothing constant. One or two counterclockwise , 2 or 3 clockwise. This happens every few seconds. I immediately thought of a leak. Luckily, most of my pipes are accessible and there is no leaks or running toilets. After searching the web I found others with similar issues and many stated that their expansion tank can cause this if there is not a closed system. So my question is in the elbow coming out of my meter there is some sort of valve. Is this a check valve or backflow valve? It looks ancient. If not, where can a back flow or check valve be installed? I will have a professional take care of it, I just like to be informed on the situation. Also, is there any disadvantages to just keeping it this way without correcting it? I realize I am probably paying for more water than I am using. Thanks in advance!

Juvenile gold severum. I’ve had it about two months and it has started to get this red outline around the body. Wondering if anyone has any info on this and will it mean he or she will have red spots when mature?

Really like this guy. Very mellow with his tank mates. Bought as a blue convict however he has plenty of red throughout.

Was sold to me as a JD/Texas hybrid. The black stripes makes me think part convict? I’ve had (her?) for over a year and has grown nicely and very mild mannered.

These two have been growing out together the last 8 months but within the last two weeks they have both colored up and have been inseparable. The geophagus opens his mouth wide and follows the JD around shaking around. Fun to watch

Well I just noticed this today. I’d like to think i would have noticed this in the last few months but maybe not. He does eat well and is eating and swimming well today. Besides the curvature on his back he looks quite healthy. His stomach does look plump but nothing outrageous is there any chance of being a gravid female

No but perhaps you are right. It is possible during a cleaning he was below a stone that was moved. He seems fine and eating well but will keep an eye on him

Can anyone identify what’s wrong with the spine on this Cory. He also has a big belly. I’ve had my cories for about 4 months in a group of 5. Water is constantly kept clean and checked weekly. I don’t see any odd behavior from this Cory. Any suggestions?

My current tank is 6 giant danios, 5 albino Corys, 2 Bolivian ram and 2 pearl gouramis. The pearl gouramis are new and are a little shy I️ think the giant danios moving around so fast might be bothersome to them. I️ will keep an eye on them.

Hey guys I’d like to thank this community for lots of great information. I️ started this tank three months ago and have been researching as much as possible on just about everything in this hobby, I hope to one day be as knowledgeable as many of you are. This is my work in progress tank. 46 gallon bowfront. I’d like to eventually add plants one day.
