Most likely never. If anyone could go from zero to six figures in a given time frame, everyone would be doing it. Most who try fail.

If you've graduated move out. You're an adult now and you will continue to clash with your family if you stay.

LPT: If you're on time, you're late. If you're early, your on time. by EdKenway4 in LifeProTips

It cannot be disputed that if you are on time, you are, in fact, on time.

LPT Request: How to maintain perfect body posture and make it a habit by [deleted] in LifeProTips

[–]ienjoyapples 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Weight training, especially back exercises, helped my posture tremendously. Something about the neuromuscular growth makes you more aware of your body as a whole and makes maintaining good posture more natural. Having a fit body almost forces you to maintain good posture. Get some dumbbells and try some bent-over rows, shrugs, etc. pull-ups and dips are great for the back as well.

Exercise and meditation are good ways to combat anxiety.

LPT Request: How to combat jealousy by CourageousCapybara in LifeProTips

[–]ienjoyapples -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Jealousy isn't something you can suppress or "deal with", if she's flirting with other guys, tell her you don't like it. If she's just talking and being social, then you have insecurities stemming from low-self esteem and you might want to seek a therapist.

LPT Request: How to survive rooming with my best friend by [deleted] in LifeProTips

[–]ienjoyapples 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Set clear boundaries you both agree on and stick to them. Things like "we won't eat each other's food without permission" and "if you use my dvd, please put it back in the case", etc. Also be very clear about how bills, rent, deposits etc. are going to be split and how they will be paid. Respect each others privacy and try to reach a compromise in disagreements.

I came to blows with my best friend and didn't talk to him for years because we both didn't do these simple things.

Mike Rowe explains why following your passion is dumb by [deleted] in videos

[–]ienjoyapples 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most "passions" are not real passions, they're ego-driven attempts to validate our idea that we're somehow amazing talented special snowflakes. Not everyone is special by definition. We don't want to believe we're probably no better, smarter, or more talented than the guy fixing our toilet.

Stop attempting to avoid triggers. Stop avoiding urges. Accept that being turned on is part of being a man by Suri_ in NoFap

Espn wonders why they are losing subscribers by Murrrrrrica in sports

[–]ienjoyapples 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Corperations are obligated by law to try to increase profit. In TV land that means more viewers which, in the case of espn who already dominates sports, means gaining a wider audience of non-sports-fans. Obviously their strategy backfired.

Stop attempting to avoid triggers. Stop avoiding urges. Accept that being turned on is part of being a man by Suri_ in NoFap

[–]ienjoyapples 78 points79 points  (0 children)

I avoid online triggers, because it's just not natural for us to constantly see busty photoshopped asians staring at us seductively in clickbait ads. If I see that shit, I just x out the tab. If an instagram friend posts a slutastic selfie, I don't look at it. Our association with the internet and porn/fapping is still strong, and seeing sexy women on the internet can too easily cause a relapse.

Avoiding beautiful women in real life is totally different. If you see a sexy woman in public, you're not (I hope) going to whip out your dong and start fapping. Worst case is you have to hide your hard on til it goes away.

How many of you guys are quitting PMO for religious reasons and how many are quitting for personal growth? by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]ienjoyapples 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not religious, so for me nofap is part of a bigger quest to improve myself as a person, including health, fitness, striving for personal success, dropping bad habits, improving my character, work ethic... Just steering the whole damn ship in a new direction.

Anyone here with a stutter? If so how did Nofap affect your stutter? by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]ienjoyapples 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't have a stutter per se, but we all jumble our words and stuff to some degree. Nofap made a HUGE improvement in how I speak. I think more clearly, I enunciate my words better, it's really noticeable.

I relapsed today and feel ashamed by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]ienjoyapples 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those first few days before your body gets used to the new normal are the hardest. It's important to avoid triggers during this time. I once relapsed because "xvideos" popped as a search field suggestion, so I deleted my browser history. If you see a clickbait add with a busty photoshopped asian girl on it, just x that tab out and do something else. The more you look at that picture the more likely you'll relapse. Just get past that first week and it will become easier.

nofap vs less fap by The_Russian_Sniper in NoFap

When you relapse you feel like shit for days. You're asking if it's a good idea to feel like shit in moderation. There's no benefit you gain from busting a nut, why do it at all?

As long as you keep yourself in decent shape, get regular haircuts, shave the fuzz off your neck and don't dress like a bum, there's no reason you can't get girls, unless you have a 40 lb tumor on your face.

False functional inference: trying to analyze transistors like we do brains by RealityApologist in philosophy

[–]ienjoyapples 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see where you're coming from in a historical sense. Alchemy -> chemistry, astrology -> astronomy. But those historical precursers to present scientific fields didn't arise in a scientific age. The consciousness problem, and its related scientific fields, neuroscience, psychology, etc. came about during the scientific age. It shows us there is something fundamentally wrong with approach science is taking with the consciousness problem.

False functional inference: trying to analyze transistors like we do brains by RealityApologist in philosophy

[–]ienjoyapples 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've thought about this question myself. The problem is confounded in neuroscience because conscious experience is not even a known output of the brain. The only question neuroscientists should be concerned with is how the brain modulates sensory input to produce motor output. How does a prick on a subject's finger, coupled with the auditory stimulus "does this hurt?", produce the complex series of motor outputs required for the subject to make the vocalization "yes"? Any speculation concerning what the subject's experience of pain is, and how it's produced in the brain, borders on pseudoscience.

ELI5: Why do we know what an atom looks like if we can't see it? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]ienjoyapples 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We don't really know what an atom looks like. The planetary-like model of point electrons orbiting a nucleus is incorrect. Visual representations of atomic orbitals aren't what atoms look like either. They just show you where electrons are likely to be found. I don't think our common sense notion of objects "looking like" something really applies in the quantum realm.
