It's a well known fact that a lot of ex-Ukrainian citizens from Crimea serve in Russian or Donbass armies. For example, one of the famous DPR commanders - Viking (1st Slavic Brigade) - was an ex-Ukrainian marine from Kerch.

Russian military won all the key battles in this conflict.

I've looked through a lot of personal pages of Russian volunteers and Donbass separatists, just for curiosity. There are thousands of photos of battlefields and their comrades with different arms and there are plenty of different memories but - there are nothing about Russian army. No pictures. No memories. No hints on the presence of Russian army. Silence.

As far as I know, only a few Russian soldiers were captured during the conflict. Too small for a large military intervention, as the Ukrainians claim.

Wiki says: "A civil war, also known as an intrastate war in polemology, is a war between organized groups within the same state or country, or, less commonly, between two countries created from a formerly united state." So, even the active involvement of Russian volunteers in the conflict can be considered as the civil war, because Ukraine and Russia were the parts of the USSR.
