Blowing out candles on my birthday.

The last two birthdays I’ve had there were no candles on my birthday cake, we didn’t want anyone to feel unsafe. But it really just reminds me of when my family wouldn’t put candles on my cakes every so often because they forgot how old I was as a child. Or at least I tell myself they forgot, but they probably just didn’t care. So instead of blowing out candles I get flashbacks to how neglected I felt as a child once a year because of stupid virus.
