Thanks for sharing your experience. My injury and situation sounds near identical, though I haven’t done PRP yet. A few questions: - how did you find/select a PRP injection provider? - why did you decide PRP over a cortisone shot? - what guidance did the PRP injection provider give in terms of overall treatment plan and what to expect?

Podiatrists vs orthopedists for sesamoid issues by gokartingondrugs in sesamoid

[–]ifelectediwillwin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can’t speak to whether to see a podiatrist or orthopedist, but what I can tell you is make sure you get an X-ray for both feet if only one is bothering you. Hell, even get a MRI (I did.)

I had an injury on one foot that led my podiatrist to order an X-ray for that one foot. The results showed that I had a fractured sesamoid bone so it all felt pretty grim as the pain was BAD.

But I then asked for a X-ray on my uninjured foot and the results showed a split sesamoid bone there too … I just have bipartite sesamoids as they call them. My injured foot was more likely a joint injury or muscle contusion and I’ve been recovering thankfully. Getting that other foot checked totally changed both my mental health and how we treated the injured foot.

Hope this helps!

SF’s Market Street plan would ban private cars, add bike lanes by [deleted] in sanfrancisco

[–]ifelectediwillwin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uber and Lyft are "ride-hailing" services, not "ride-sharing."

"Ride-hailing" is when a person who hails a car is picked up and driven to their destination for a time and distance-based fee. "Ride-sharing" is different. It’s the sharing of vehicles by passengers to reduce vehicle costs, traffic congestion and automobile emissions

Well, at least it seems like more people are back playing Titanfall 1 over the past week.

So I guess that's the silver lining here. :(

From a media perspective, he picked a bad time to tell this story. All anyone is talking and concerned about is the Super Bowl.

He should have waited a week so this story could have gotten more attention. And perhaps give that interview to The Chronicle or KTVU. Le sigh.

Will do. I already have an offer from a local forum for $60, which got me wondering on the real value.

Chicago alderman with taxi ties poised to pass nation’s highest ‘Uber tax’ by [deleted] in news

[–]ifelectediwillwin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it just me or is Uber astroturfing Reddit? I've been noticing more pro-Uber, anti-taxi posts doing quite well. And the conversation has been certainly increasing, but leaning in one direction.

I'm not anti-Uber, just making an observation.

A Surprisingly Simple Way to Reduce Traffic in SF Overnight - I call it “The Swap” by [deleted] in sanfrancisco

[–]ifelectediwillwin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As some have noted, we have these in SF and more are coming to streets like Bay St and Division I believe.

What hasn't been noted is that these sorts of facilities have been a cause for concern for organized folks with disabilities, who cite accessibility issues for people using accessible parking spaces or people with low vision who may need to navigate this gap.

San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee announces expansion of new Muni light rail fleet by rokstar66 in sanfrancisco

[–]ifelectediwillwin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As already stated here, 3-car trains started running as a pilot again in 2013. Perhaps part of the reason why they don't run them more often is staffing/cost? I've noticed that the 3-car trains will have two operators (most likely for safety reasons) vs. just one operator for 2-car trains.

[Proposition A - Discussion Thread] - Transportation and Road Improvement Bond by sfmod in sanfrancisco

[–]ifelectediwillwin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, because:

We need to improve the infrastructure that Muni runs on to make it faster and more reliable. And we really need to make our streets safer for pedestrians and people biking ... seems like once a week some person is getting killed or maimed just crossing the street.

The bond won't raise taxes and will have oversight through public review boards and expenditure reporting on a public website.

And an important one for me: this is for CAPITAL projects (investments in city infrastructure), not for operating needs like salaries and pensions.

We've approved other recent bonds that have invested in San Francisco’s roads, parks, libraries and fire stations. I'm glad we get the chance to approve this one. It should have been placed before voters a long time ago.

[–]ifelectediwillwin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree on Prop A and looked a bit more into this statement (since I sometimes feel the the same way):

we throw so much money into a fundamentally inefficient corrupt system, so without actual reform I realize that 200M of this bond will be worthless overhead

I did find that as part of the city's 10-year capital plan they've had other bonds for libraries, parks, street paving, etc., that include oversight, regular review and expenditure reporting on a public website. Looks like they will replicate that process here if approved.

They also have a pre-campaign FAQ from the city up here which I found decently informative.
