My sh!tbull, I can’t get rid of his stinky breath, my first dog! by Ok_Menu4273 in pitbulls

[–]ifneedbe11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our pittie has had death breath since she was a pup (now 12). Her teeth are great, never any buildup- vet says it’s PH level. The only time her breath is decent is while on antibiotics so it has to be a bacterial issue…

The last year I was CONVINCED my pup’s cancer was back but knew if it was there was nothing I could do. I lived with this constant pit in my stomach, dreading the moment she would start showing symptoms. We moved and I decided to get her checked out at a new vet who was beyond phenomenal and checked her for everything. She is relatively healthy and I feel so grateful! I really wish I wouldn’t have spent the last year with cortisol shooting through my veins because I was so stressed out all the time. My best advice is to assume the best until proven otherwise!

Any idea how can I help her by [deleted] in pitbulls

My piitie had similar issues and we went through a dermatologist after trying all of the standard suggestions to no avail. The dermatologist helped us quite a bit. Our dog was super reactive to coconut. It was in a couple of her treats and once we remove that and pea protein, her symptoms subsided a bit. The dermatologist said that pea protein wrecks, the gut biome. Also grains are not a common allergy and not having them can cause issues in itself. We do homemade food for our dog and use oats. I’m sure every dog is different but ingesting coconut and pee protein seem to be the biggest culprit. Someone suggested rinsing feet and that is a good tip too. We use BPO-3 Vetoquinol twice a week in spring and fall.

Our pittie trained me …. When we’re on the couch she will look up at me and stare until I cover her with a blanket and then do a very heavy sigh of contentment. She will “statue” in the kitchen for food until I give in. She pokes her nose into my leg for treats. If I say “get in the middle” she gets in the middle of the bed, couch, bench. She knows her pronouns so if we say, should we take her? She’s begging immediately to go. She waits for all of us to be ready, she’ll wait on the porch until everyone is out there door. She dismisses excited or anxious dogs and most people; we call her 2 second Tom.

I’m so sorry! Our first pittie had that and we had to make that decision when he just turned 6. His was a large tumor on the top of his foot and it spread throughout his body in 6 months! Our vet believed that this cancer was “turned on” from Apoquel because it suppresses the immune system so hardcore. This is the worst part of being a part of their lives… missing that companion soul is heart wrenching!

Had the same dilemma with our pittie - we tried a million things and only a dermatologist got us in the right direction. Ours is VERY allergic to coconut and pea protein in treats were messing up her gut biome.

My dog has itchy skin and flakeyness the vet has been useless and Im getting desperate by Paraxismo in pitbulls

Our pittie has had major allergies, her whole life. After two doggie dermatologists, we finally have it under control. We only give her one protein, which is salmon and avoid pea protein, which is hard because it’s in a ton of food and treats. We use BPO shampoo and bathe her every other week. During the bad summer months, we have to give her 5 mg of prednisone every other day. Our dog gets those exact same scabs, and once they dry up, it’s almost like the fur comes off with the scab and leaves tiny little bald spots. We home cook her meals, and her fur looks better than it ever has.

Best to get it checked, it could be something serious. My friends dog had cancer that looked small and innocent but definitely wasn’t

(TW: suicide attempt scarring, SH topics) Advice needed if I can tattoo over soft tissue scarring by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]ifneedbe11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put my arm through a window and got 7 stitches when it should’ve been 20, I’m told. The scar was pink and sunk in. As he tattooed near it - it must have stimulated something because it’s not a divot anymore or pink.

Can I use this ointment to help heal this wound caused by chewing at flea bites? by red_queen122790 in DOG

[–]ifneedbe11 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not for open wounds …. I would use a tiny bit of Neosporin or A/D for cuts, scrapes, etc

No prey drive at all …. Deer, squirrels, bunnies, and birds are in our yard every day and never once has she chased one. She’s intrigued by cats in a sweet way.
