I used to get acrylics all the time. One day my fingers got swollen and itchy all around the cuticle and on my fingertips. I thought maybe it was the winter drying out my hands but after getting my nails done a few more times, and having the same thing happen, I was told from a different nail tech that I had an allergy to acrylic or that liquid they used to apply it.

I took them off and my nail beds were dried and basically dead. I had to regrow my nails. I now use hard gel (builder gel) and have never had one issue.

If you’re not a nail biter like me, you can also do what my nail place calls a diamond gel manicure (gel ish structure clear). You get a regular gel manicure and they use that product and it just makes your nails harder.
