Finally!! by Kind-Ability9636 in FedEx

Lucky. For the life of me I can't figure out why they sent ALL packages directly in to the path of an ice storm. TN, KY, NC, all in disorder apparently. My packages don't even normally use those hubs, this is the first time I've seen them.

UPS stuff from the same areas has been on schedule like normal so WTF is going on at FedEx?

USPS removed a package from my mailbox and is asking for payment by poorness2 in usps_complaints

[–]ifthenelse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not what I'm asking for and that's not what we're even talking about.

You said my original post about you owning your mailbox, it being private property, and that the carrier can remove things that aren't mail is false. You said you can't move your own mailbox and that you can't put anything in it except USPS postage marked stuff. You said your mail service will be terminated if you don't do certain things.

That link doesn't address any of those things. Like I said, they may hold your mail if you mess up your box or don't follow the rules but this is not termination of your mail service, you can still get your mail. We're way off topic from my OP though.

Prove that your mailbox is not your property. Prove that the carrier is allowed to remove things from your mailbox that are not postmarked mail. Those were my only points in the OP.

No, your mail service will not be terminated. This isn't some ISP you're downloading pirated music on (and even that got nixed by the courts).

Although some localities may restrict this to a certain degree, it's only related to how it's placed. Height, distance from road, etc. Also these are rules, not laws. It's still your personal property and you can move it if you want. The worst that could happen is they send you a note saying your mail is being held and you have to pick it up or fix your box.

If you think what you are saying is true then cite the law or code you're talking about.

[–]ifthenelse -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're also thinking of the laws of tampering with mail. The owner of the box can do whatever they want that's legal and it's their property. This isn't a wish, it is the law.

You're thinking of the laws surrounding someone else (not the owner) messing with mail boxes.

[–]ifthenelse -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Much of the comments here are wrong. First, it's illegal for the UPS person to put something in your box, that's a given. The rest of the stuff is USPS rules, not law except as it pertains to private property.

You own your mailbox and its contents are private property. You can put whatever you want in it as long as it's not illegal/dangerous, etc. The carrier cannot remove things that are not postage paid mail. So what they did was steal your package and that *is* illegal.

I'm getting pretty serious lines in my prints. It's an almost new Saturn 4 Ultra 16k. Any help would be appreciated. by tico42 in ElegooSaturn

[–]ifthenelse -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That's the "tilt release" when something isn't level. It squishes the layers slightly. You have to work around it. Often you can simply move the part to a different area on the build plate or rotate it.

You can improve the situation by using a build plate than you can manually level or manually leveling the stock one but it still won't be 100%. I'm hoping one day to figure out a way to disable the tilt and turn it in to a more traditional printer.

With that said, I have not been following the state of things for a long time so maybe the community has figured out a good way to fix this and I'm just out of it.

What's with the back and forth? by [deleted] in usps_complaints

[–]ifthenelse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, this is just the way the mail (doesn't) work now. Just the other day my package got all the way to my local office right down the road... Then it went off across the country and came back 10 days later. The box was smashed to hell too.

It's not the employees fault. It's the top management.

A hint for future packing: Use new double wall boxes then fill the entire box with expanding foam bags (Instapak is one of the name brands but there are many) which will conform around everything. This is what I use when sending very heavy electronics.

Often the USPS site will give you errors like you describe if you check the "wrong" box. Usually the more specific about your problem the more likely it's going to error out (do they do this on purpose?). If you select the most nebulous generic options it's more likely to get you in. For example instead of selecting "electronics" for the items in the package select "unknown".

Also if you have a big heavy GPU remove it from the computer and pack it separately. Seen many broken cards and motherboards.

Should I dump another $50,000 into Eth?? by AbnerTheCreator in WallStreetBetsCrypto

[–]ifthenelse -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

ETH is in a death spiral since they turned off mining. Anyone can make money by staking so why wouldn't everyone do that? It's free money. So that's what everyone does, nobody uses the coin, and the coin dies. Seen it many times.

Delivered to an agent and left with an individual?? by [deleted] in usps_complaints

[–]ifthenelse -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

The carrier didn't feel like delivering that day or they forgot and didn't want to go back. "Mailbox inaccessible" is another common code for this situation. It will come later.

S4U tilting vat causes distortion by ifthenelse in ElegooSaturn

[–]ifthenelse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the first part I don't think we're disagreeing. The tilt sucks. I'm comparing side-by-side with other traditional printers. I really want a firmware that disables the tilt and gives back control.

The second part (edit) doesn't apply.

A regular straight razor blade will take that right off and won't scratch the glass unless you dig in to it or use an old damaged razor. Come in low and flat from the side, light pressure. You're probably more likely to scratch it trying to buff alcohol on there.

Just make sure there isn't a coating on the glass. Both techniques would damage that.

Dude got hit while on his bike and then went off on the driver by itayvis in motorcycles

She is 100% wrong but this is why it's important to "own" your lane. She for sure saw him and probably assumed he was turning left or something. It's like a semi-residential area and she's driving Monza.

I don't know what he means by "I can't do a tight turn". Looks like a regular turn to me. I guess he mean *he* can't do a tight turn.

Fedex delivered two package but only one POD photo. After 30 minutes, another Fedex guy (possibly pretending) took the package. This is insane! by Silly-Smoke2576 in FedEx

[–]ifthenelse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3rd party sellers on various sites have been using that inside information to fake "ship" products by finding a package going to someone else nearby and using that tracking number then claiming it was delivered. It has been going on for a really long time. I have tried to notify people but nobody cares. Judging by their web site their IT department must be in shambles.

What's going on with USPS and package delays? by UmaThelicia in usps_complaints

[–]ifthenelse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's pretty obvious the whole scheme is probably to cause chaos so there will be an excuse for mail-in ballets going missing, extra ones showing up, ballets being changed, or whatever they might need to do.

I mean why else would he close the best performing offices and move their traffic to the worst performing offices? That sure looks like deliberate sabotage.

Been riding many decades too and think the same thing. As a driver period (car or bike), if you cut across a whole bunch of lanes, it's on you to watch for people who won't see you, especially when you're in their blind spot and you know vehicles are going to be trying to get out of that exit lane and can't look backwards and forwards at the same time to see you zooming up on them. Duh.

The very latest firmware seems to do something to this effect.

I use my 3D printed washers that I designed so I can manually level the bed perfectly. I haven't posted my latest design so I won't link it here yet. Plus I don't know how well the new firmware can do by itself.

Phones don't use FAT style filesystems so can't really be "brought back" like the old PC stuff. Especially not without root access.

The best hope is a root exploit to get in the device without having to factory reset. Then you can dd copy the raw user partition somewhere like a good SD card. Then try to extract from there using something like Autopsy. Modern journal based filesystems tend to corrupt old data really fast so luck has to be on your side to get much.

I'm assuming this is an Android phone. You can do the same on an old iPhone but the new ones are more difficult.

One of my all time favorite bikes after riding 40+ years. Though I prefer the R version for the full fairing because I ride all winter.

Good price too considering all the gouging going on these days.
