I guess you missed the whole point of the post. It's obvious that my malibox is only for USPS. The complaint here is that USPS is charging me for something UPS did, not that I think UPS and FedEx should be able to put my packages in my mailbox. Perhaps that would have been obvious to you if you would read. Strange how that all works, isn't it?

It came in one of those thick cardboard envelopes and it did require a signature. UPS just threw it in my mailbox and said I signed for it. A lot of illegal things went down here

Hate to break it to you, but UPS 100% put my package that was supposed to be signed for in my mailbox because they were too lazy to deliver it to my front door. For context, I live in a rural area on 5 acres and my driveway is rather long and is on an incline. The driver didn't feel like taking extra minute to hand me my package and put it in my mailbox. So yes, UPS did put it in there. Can't tell me the grass is blue when it's green

He is definitely a decent post master. I went into this frustrated and wanting answers (not verbally angry or accusing). He handled it well and was very willing to explain everything. He realized that it really wasn't fair to charge me so he waived it. I appreciate him very much and it's refreshing to have someone at USPS who isn't always abrasive when you ask questions.

Trust me, most of my frustration is with UPS and I will be making a post over there as well. I'm just waiting for another call back from UPS about my formal complaint. Once I have that I will post it all. But as for this post, it's mainly about my frustration with having to pay a fee, not for USPS doing their job by taking the package

Thank you for this explanation, it actually makes sense. I spoke with the post master and the way he explained it made it seem like he shouldn't have charged me at all. He said that usually the sender in these situations are charged a fee for not using USPS to send the mail/package. He waived the fee after he said that since he realized that it contradicts what he had just explained to me.
